Chioma Okoye is a famous Nollywood actress, producer, script writer, television personality and a philanthropist. She was born on 3rd July 1983 in Kaduna State in the northern part of Nigeria. She is currently 34 years old. She is originally from Aguleri-Otu in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria but grew up in Kaduna State in the northern part of Nigeria.
Chioma Okoye grew up in a family of six children. Her mother’s name is Mrs. Okoye Noami and her late father’s name is Elder Joseph Okoye. Her late father died on 30th April 2013.
She has three brothers namely Godwin Okoye, Sam Okoye and Christian Okoye. She has two sisters namely Gloria Okoye and Victoria Okoye. She is currently based in Lagos State, Nigeria with her family.
Chioma Okoye attended Faith Nursery and Primary School in Kaduna State, Nigeria and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. After completing her primary school education, Chioma Okoye proceeded to Christ the King Seminary School in Nnobi, Anambra State, Nigeria and obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.
After completing her secondary school education, Chioma Okoye proceeded to University of Lagos (UNILAG) and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Strategic.
After completing her tertiary education, Chioma Okoye was introduced into the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) by Pete Edochie who happens to be her uncle. It all happened when she followed her uncle Pete Edochie to a movie location in 2002.
After which she started acting in Nollywood movies. Her first movie was “No Shaking” which she acted alongside with Victor Osuagwu and Sam Loco Efe. Her second movie was “Nothing Spoil” which she acted alongside with Chinedu Ikedieze, Osita Iheme and Uche Ogbuagu.
In 2003, Chioma Okoye rose to fame after acting in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Abuja Connection” alongside with Ngozi Ezeonu, Eucharia Anunobi and Clarion Chukwuka. The movie won her an award for Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Chioma Okoye is currently a movie producer in Nigeria. She has produced several movies in Nigeria and still counting. Her first movie which she produced “Aso-ebi Girls” is currently showing in Cinema across Nigeria and has sold million copies worldwide.
Chioma Okoye has acted in more than 150 Nollywood movies which include Slow Poison (Agala), Drummer Boy, Abuja Connection, True Romance, Too Late, Aso-ebi Girls, Prof and Den Gun, The World Richest Family, etc.
Chioma Okoye is very talented and skillful in acting. She knows how to interpret her roles very well and can fit in any role given to her by movie directors. She is a pioneer of the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and has contributed immensely for it growth. She is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Purple Ribbon Entertainment.
