10 Nigerian Celebrities That Died From 2006 To 2014

In this article I will be sharing with you 10 Nigerian celebrities that died from 2006 to 2014. Death is an inevitable thing and like the saying goes, every person on this earth must die at a very old age, but it becomes painful when people die at the wrong time. These dead Nigerian celebrities will always be remembered for the role they played in the development of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

It is not an understatement to assert that their demise shook the entertainment industry to its core at the time each of their demise occurred. They are however remembered for the legacies they left behind. So after a careful study and research I present to you 10 Nigerian celebrities that died from 2006 to 2014.

1. J.T Tom West

The River state born actor died in September 2006. J.T Tom West was involved in a fatal auto-accident, while he was returning from a location after a late night film shooting with two of his colleagues. His former girlfriend, Tricia Eseigbe wept so hard that she was uncontrollable as at that time. He was very popular with his hit roles in movies like State of Emergency, Above The Law, The President Must Not Die and many more.

2. Sam Loco Efe

The death of Sam Loco really got the entertainment industry in Nigeria shaking because he was very popular with his comic roles. Sam Loco died in a hotel room in Owerri where he was editing a film in August 2011 at the age of 66 years old.

3. Justice Esiri

The death of Justice Esiri came as a surprise to everybody after his son Dr Sid announced his demised via his official Instagram handle. The Village Headmaster star actor died in February 2013 at the age of 70 years old. He died of complications from diabetes in a Lagos hospital.

4. Enebeli Enebuwa

The death of Enebeli Enebuwa shocked the entire world. He became popular after staring as Andrew in a popular TV programme many years ago. He died in an Indian hospital in December 2012. He died of stroke at the age of 66 years old.

5. Amaka Igwe

The very popular Nollywood producer died of asthma attack in Enugu in April 2014. She was the writer and producer of Checkmate, the most popular TV soap opera ever to be aired in Nigeria. Her sudden demise at the age of 51 years old shook Nollywood and the entertainment industry as a whole due to her role in the development of Nollywood.

6. Geraldine Ekeocha

The popular Nollywood actress Geraldine Ekeocha died in September 2011 during a fibroid operation at the age of 56 years old. Before her demise she was regarded as one of Nollywood veteran who has contributed to the development of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

7. Pete Eneh

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Eneh died in November 2012 after one of his legs was amputated at the age of 68 years old. He always plays the role of a king and title chief during his old days in Nollywood.

8. Francis Agu

Francis Ugu became a star via Amaka Igwe’s Checkmate. After which he featured in Living in Bondage and Jezebel produced by his girlfriend Emem Isong at that time. Francis Agu died in March 2007 after a protracted sickness.

9. Ashley Nwosu

He was a popular Nollywood actor whose sudden demise shook the Nigerian movie industry. The top actor died in April 2011 after a brief illness. Before his demise he was regarded as one of the best actor in Nigeria. He always plays the role of a traditional ruler, traditional prime minister and title chief in many Nollywood movies.

1. David Ihesie

Another Nollywood actor whose death shock Nigerians is David Ihesie. He was a big star in the early 1990s. He had featured in movies like Ikuku, Igodo, Ebube, Ijele and always play the role of a title chief. David Ihesie died in January 2012 at the age of 73 years old. May their souls continue to rest in peace!!!
