10 Nigerian Celebrities Who Passed Away In 2018

Death is an inevitable thing in life and as we all know men and women are visitors in this world. As we have come to this world so shall we return soon to our creator. In this article I will be sharing with you 10 Nigerian celebrities who passed away in the year 2018, the cause of their death and the period they were called to glory.

1. Ras Kimono

Famous Nigerian reggae singer Ukeleke Onwubuya popularly known as Ras Kimono died on Sunday 10th June 2018 in Lagos in the south western part of Nigeria. Ras Kimono was reportedly supposed to travel to the United States of America on Saturday 9th June 2018, before he fell down and was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos where he was later referred to Lagoon Hospital on the Island where he died. Ras Kimono was the pioneer of reggae music in Nigeria and his music preaches love, respect, peace and unity.

2. Baba Sala

Nigerian comic actor Moses Adejumo popularly known as Baba Sala was reported dead on Sunday 7th October 2018 in Ilesha, Osun State in the south western part of Nigeria. The actor died at the age of 81 years old. According to his media assistant, Isaac Hastrup, he revealed that the actor died due to old age related sickness. Baba Sala was one of the pioneers of comedy movie in the Nigerian movie industry and was very talented for his funny roles in movies.

3. Okwy Chukwujekwu

In September 2018, rising Nollywood star actor and comedian Okwy Chukwujekwu also known as Main Bossman was reported dead. He died after having an asthma attack. The deceased was buried few weeks after his sudden death. Okwy Chukwujekwu was regarded as one of the most talented comic actors in Nigeria. His physical appearance and behavior in movies put viewers in a state of laughter. He always features in comedy movies and knows how to interpret his roles very well.

4. Nora Nkeiruka Ugo

On 28th January 2018, fast rising Nollywood actress Nora Nkeiruka Ugo was reported dead. She was said to have given up the ghost after a battle with an undisclosed ailment. Her close friends immediately took to their social media handles to mourn her death. Nora Nkeiruka Ugo was a rising Nollywood actress until her call to glory. She has featured in several blockbuster movies in Nigeria and knows how to interpret her roles very well.

5. Ezeora Nelson Oluchukwu

A rising Nollywood star actor who left unexpectedly in the prime of youth was Ezeora Nelson Oluchukwu but popularly referred to as Nelson Gold. He was not only a brilliant actor, but also a screen writer and a good story teller. His style and concept of interpreting movie roles have drawn a lot of fans to him. But unfortunately, the actor slipped into a coma and died at the age of 26 years old. Ezeora Nelson Oluchukwu has featured in several blockbuster movies in Nigeria and known for playing the role of a royal prince.

6. Chike Osuji

On 14th August 2018, the list of Nollywood actors who were called to glory recently grew by one as the well-known veteran movie star Chike Osuji passed away from a heart attack. The man came from Umuokoro Awaka in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He has starred in several blockbuster movies and has been in the industry for over decades until his call to glory.

7. Chris Ekejimde

Talented Nollywood actor Chris Ekejimba was reported dead on Saturday 20th October 2018. According to one of his friends, the deceased was ill for a while and may have been last seen in public at the Nigerian Creative industry summit at Protea Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria in September 2010. He died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He was allegedly given an overdose of the malaria drug. Chris Ekejimba was one of Nigerian most gifted actors before his call to glory.

8. Aisha Abimbola

The talented Nigerian actress who had been fighting cancer for many years went to Canada for a schedule chemo therapy. Unfortunately, the heavy treatment badly affected her body and her heart stopped beating. Aisha Abimbola later died in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday 15th May 2018. Aisha Abimbola has acted in several films and television series. She is very gifted, skillful, creative, talented and knows how to interpret her roles very well.

9. Chukwudi Anachina

Famous Nigerian film maker and producer Chukwudi Anachina popularly known as Bambino died on 16th June 2018. He was said to have died in his sleep. He graduated from the Federal Polytechnic in Oko, Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. Chukwudi Anachina was not just a producer but also an actor. He always plays the role of an elder in several Nollywood blockbuster movies and knows how to interpret his roles very well.

10. Tosyn Bucknor

On Monday night of 19th November 2018, talented on-air personality Tosyn Bucknor was reported dead. The deceased was found dead by her French husband Aurelien Boyer when he returned from work. Tosyn Bucknor was a great television personality and has anchored several programs on Television and has also hosted several events in Nigeria.
