In this article I will be sharing with you 10 Nollywood actors who have remained consistent for over 25 years. The Nollywood industry has been around for a very long time now and has witnessed a lot of people shoot into stardom. While it is often believed that fame is just as fleeting as life is, there are those who have managed to stay consistent in the Nigerian movie industry.

Just like their female counterparts, many Nollywood actors have had to deal with getting little or no jobs due to new talents who pop up every year in the industry. While some eventually quit the industry for alternative vocations, there are those who have stuck it out and weathered the storm.

There are also those whose prolific acting has kept bringing more and more movie roles their way and effortlessly so. Regardless of how they have managed to remain in the film industry, these actors have amassed great love from the Nigerian movie lovers and it’s not hard to see why.

So after a careful study and research I present to you 10 Nollywood actors who have remained consistent for over 25 years.

1. Nkem Owoh

Popularly known as Osuofia for the 2003 hit movie, Osuofia in London, Nkem Owoh’s sojourn into the film industry goes as far back as 1987 where he started in the television series Things Fall Apart alongside with Pete Edochie and Chiwe Ntaluagu. The talented actor known for playing coy and funny roles in movies has starred in over 300 Nollywood movies and continues to keep fans entertained. This actor and many more have continued to bless our screens with their impeccable acting and it is simply amazing!

2. Pete Edochie

Dubbed as the godfather of Nollywood, Pete Edochie’s days in the Nigerian movie industry stems back to his role as Okonkwo in the cinematic adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s 1958 novel, Things Fall Apart, in 1971. His penchant for dropping interesting proverbs in his movies has not only won him lots of fans across the country, but it has also earned him the respect of many. Pete Edochie whose son, Yul Edochie, is also in the movie industry, has starred in over 350 Nollywood movies.

3. Richard Mofe Damijo

Popular known as RMD, Richard Mofe Damilo is certainly one Nollywood screen icon who has been in the industry for a long time now, and has continued to win hearts with his effortless interpretation of movie roles. RMD ventured into the Nigerian film industry in the 80s when he took part in a television soap opera called Ripples. He then acted in the 1997 movie, Out Of Bounds for which he received a writer/producer credit. He has continued to serve major screen goals ever since.

4. Chiwetalu Agu

Popularly known as Ichie Ogwu, Chiwetalu Aguis a legendary Nollywood comic actor. He is very funny and always use comedy slangs to portray his role in movies. He acts mostly as a title chief and wicked father in-law in several Nollywood movies. His professional acting career took off in 1981 as he took part in the NTA drama series Things Fall Apart, where he played the role of Anikwu while Pete Edochie played the role of Okonkwo in the Chinua Achebe historical traditional fiction story published in 1955. He has continued to be one of the best comic actor in Nigeria.

5. Jim Iyke

Known for his flawless interpretation of bad boy roles, Jim Iyke is another Nollywood icon who has stayed consistent in the industry. His real name is James Ikechukwu Esomugha and he is from Anambra State. Jim Iyke joined the Nigerian movie industry in 1995 and he has starred in over 250 Nollywood movies ever since. His latest movies include Merry Men and The Set Up. He is known for using American tongue in all his movies.

6. Ramsey Nouah

Popularly known for his lover boy roles in romantic movies like Valentino, Power of Love and many more. Ramsey Nouah’s acting career kicked off when he starred in the Nigerian TV soap opera, Fortunes. The 1996 hit movie, Silent Night, launched him into the limelight and he has since appeared in numerous films. His most recent movie was the 2019 sequel to the 1992 blockbuster movie, Living in Bondage.

7. Kanayo O Kanayo

Known for his captivating style in delivery of villain roles in movies, Kanayo O Kanayo is one of those actors who many have a hard time telling their real nature from the movie characters he plays, due to how good he is. Kanayo O Kanayo made his debut movie appearance in the 1992 hit movie, Living in Bondage and since then till date he has starred in over 200 Nollywood films.

8. Segun Arinze

Segun Arinze is the talented actor and singer has been on our screens for over 15 years and counting. His flawless diction and ability to draw emotions from viewers has earned him the love and respect of many people. Known for movies like Women in Love, Anini, To Love A Thief and many others, the Nollywood actor is definitely one man we have enjoyed seeing on our screens.

9. Kenneth Okonkwo

Popularly known as Andy for his role in the 1992 Nollywood blockbuster movie “Living in Bondage” Kenneth Okonkwo has been described as one of the darling actors in Nollywood with over 28 years of experience in the movie industry. Kenneth Okonkwo is a graduate of Law from the University of Lagos. He has also starred in movies like Ripple, Dumebi, Silent King, World Apart, and many more.

10. Desmond Elliot

Now a politician and filmmaker as well, Desmond Elliot remains one of the leading men in the Nigerian film industry. He has appeared in over 200 films including Men Who Cheat, Yahoo Millionaire and Atlanta. Although he appears in fewer movies these days due to his work as a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. His work as a director and producer has proved to be successful with many awards, accolades and recognitions.
