In this article I will be sharing with you 10 Nollywood celebrities who quit acting forever. The Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood has evolved over the years while progressively producing beautiful actors and actresses we cannot forget in a hurry. The industry has enjoyed unprecedented growth over the years and has witnessed a lot of transformation from what it used to be.

Nollywood had in years back been graced with multi talented actors and actresses who once starred on our screens, week-in-week-out. It has also experienced the sudden fading out and disappearance of some of its best acts even to the shock of their fans. So ladies and gentlemen, after a careful study and research I present to you 10 Nollywood celebrities who quit acting forever.

1. Saint Obi

Saint Obi whose real name is Obinna Nwafor a is legendary Nollywood actor, producer and director. As a great actor and Nollywood bad boy, he has been regarded as one of the best actor of his generation and one of the greatest actors of all time. In the 1990s, he was often called Nollywood’s Mr Quality because of his attention to details when producing or directing movies. He joined Nollywood in 1995 when he started attending movie auditions and has featured in a number of movies, TV series and soap operas which has aired on NTA and several commercial televisions. Saint Obi is best known for his roles in Candle Light, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime, Last Party and many more. He always features in action thriller movies and always plays the role of a police detective and security agent.

2. Sandra Achums

Famous and veteran Nollywood actress, Sandra Achums in the 90s was probably one of the most popular and most sought after actresses in the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood. She joined the Nigerian movie industry in 1995 and acted in her first movie Deadly Affair, a movie that brought her to limelight. Her acting skills were excellent as she could interpret any role given to her. She was known as the bad girl of Nollywood because she majorly act as a bad girl in several Nollywood movies and always interpret her roles very well. In the early 2000s, Sandra Achums took a break from acting and decided to face her family as she got married and started having children. She has since relocated to Germany with her family and has never appeared on screen since then.

3. Pat Attah

Pat Attah whose real name is Patrick Uchenna Attah is a famous Nollywood actor, director, television personality, model and musician. He joined the Nigerian Movie Industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1993 upon graduation from the university and rose to popularity in 1994 after a brilliant performance in the movie “Glamour Girls”. In 2000, his role in the movie Glamour Girls won him an award for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. Aside from acting, he was also a musician and a guitarist and was performing on stage alongside with Marvelous Benji. In 2015, Pat Attah quit Nollywood forever. That same year he became a born-again Christian and relocated with his family to Germany where he is currently a man of God and a minister of the Gospel.

4. Nkeru Sylvanus

Nkeru Sylvanus is a famous Nollywood actress who was known for her ability to cry in movies. Nkeru Sylvanus is one of the Nollywood actresses who have created a niche for others to follow and one of the pillars that hold Nollywood firmly. She has acted in more than 150 Nollywood movies playing minor and leads roles in movies before delving into politics as the Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Rochas Okorocha, the former Governor of Imo State. Nkeru Sylvanus joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1999 and rose to fame after starring in the Nollywood tragic movie “A Cry For Help” where she played the role of an orphan who was been maltreated by her step mother. She cry a lot in movies and always plays descent roles in movies. In 2003, she starred in the Nollywood blockbuster epic movie Egg of Life, a movie that earned her an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. Nkeru Sylvanus has quit acting forever and so don’t expect to see her on movies again.

5. Ernest Asuzu

Ernest Asuzu is a famous Nollywood actor known for his criminal and hit man role in action thriller movies. Ernest Asuzu joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1999 and rose to fame in 2000 after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Labista” a movie that brought him to limelight and attracted him to movie directors and producers in Nigeria. Some of the movies he has acted include Labista, Last Wedding, Ògìdán, Broad Day Light and many more. He was known for being dynamic with his movie characters. Ernest Asuzu also helped in contributing to the growth of the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood during his active years in the industry. He suffered a stroke in 2015 and condemned the Nigerian movie industry saying that evil forces have taken over the industry. He quit the industry permanently and become a man of God.

6. Grace Amah

Beautiful Nollywood actress and mother of one, Grace Amah joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1999 when she started her acting career as a teenager at the age of 13 years old. She made her first debut as a 13-year-old character in the movie “Chains” a movie that brought her to limelight and attracted her to movie directors and producers in Nigeria. She became a public figure when she was featured in Teco Benson’s Nollywood blockbuster movie “Elastic Limit” a movie that earned her an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. After given birth to her son, Grace Amah disappeared from the screen and quit the industry permanent. Grace Amah during her days in Nollywood was regarded as one of the most sought after actress in Nigeria. But today she has quit the industry forever so don’t expect to see her in movies again.

7. Charles Okafor

Charles Okafor is a famous and veteran Nollywood actor who has been regarded as a legend in Nollywood. He is recognized as one of the veteran actors in the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood who has contributed immensely to the growth of Nollywood in Nigeria and rest of the world. He joined the industry in 1995 and rose to fame in 1996 after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Domitilla” a movie that brought him to limelight and attracted him to movie directors and producers in Nigeria. In 1999, Charles Okafor became a global venture after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie ‘End of the Wicked’ a movie that won him an award for Best Actor in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. Charles Okafor has quit Nollywood permanently and is currently an ordained pastor ministering the word of God to his congregations.

8. Rita Nzelu

Rita Nzelu is a renowned Nollywood actress, model and a television personality. She joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1992 and rose to fame after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Living in Bondage” a movie that brought her to limelight and also recognized Nollywood as a movie industry globally. She has starred in movies like Ukwa, Ortega and His Enemies, Stigma of Womanhood, Terrible Sin and many more. In 2003, she won the award for Best Actress in Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role in the Nollywood comic movie Ukwa. Rita Nzelu during the 90s and early 2000s was the most sought after actress in Nigeria. After getting married Rita Nzelu quit Nollywood permanently and focused all her attention on her family. She has kissed acting goodbye and so don’t expect to see her on movies again.

9. Hanks Anuku

Hanks Anuku is a legendary Nollywood actor known for his villain and hit man role in movies. He joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1999 and rose to fame in 2000 after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Senator” a movie that brought him to limelight and attracted him to movie directors and producers in Nigeria. Hanks Anuku was known for his numerous roles as a bad boy, criminal, villain, hit man in many Nollywood films. He used to be the go-to guy when producers needed a perfect bad boy in a movie. Trailed by personal controversies and alleged nonchalant attitude while on location, Hanks Anuku has gradually faded out of the movie scene. As of 2017, Hanks Anuku was said to have naturalized and became a Ghanaian citizen.

10. Lillian Bach

Lillian Bach is a famous Nollywood actress and a former model. The beautiful actress who turned 49 recently was shot to the limelight for her prominent roles in blockbuster movies like ‘Ogidan’ and ‘Married to a Witch’. Lillian Bach was born in Lagos to a Yoruba mother and a Polish father. She came into the limelight as a model in the 1990s when she competed in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty pageant and emerged as the first runner up. She has also featured in several television commercials and was at some point the Face of Delta Soap. She took a break from doing movies to pursue a career in film production and has faded out since then. Lillian Bach during her days in Nollywood was regarded as one of the most beautiful actress in Nigeria. As of now, she has quit the industry permanently and so don’t expect to see her on movies again.
