13 Nigerian Celebrities That Cheated Death

There are few Nigerian celebrities who have cheated death in one way or the other. A number of them encountered near-death experiences in motor accidents, severe sickness and assassin attack that made them, as well as their fans to be grateful for their God-given lives. Death is truly something no one prays for. To the glory of God these celebrities survived and are testimony to God goodness.

So therefore after a careful study and research I present to you 13 Nigerian celebrities that cheated death.

1. Leo Mezie

Popular Nollywood actor, Leo Mezie survived the worst ailment which is kidney disease. Earlier in July 2016, word got out that the actor was down with kidney-related disease. The news came barely a month after popular Nigerian music producer, OJB Jezreel passed on. Leo Mezie about three years ago miraculously survived kidney disease. It would be recall that Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Ministries in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria had facilitated the actor’s medical trip to London in 2016, and while receiving treatment there, the actor was advised not to go for a transplant. An advice he welcomed wholeheartedly as he returned to Nigeria and has since been diligent on his treatment.

2. Angela Okorie

Nollywood popular actress Angela Okorie has got to be the luckiest woman on earth after surviving an alleged attack from suspected assassins. Angela Okorie says ten bullets were removed from her head while two bullets were also removed somewhere close to her eyes during an alleged attack by assassins. The actress made this known via her Instagram page on Sunday, 15th December 2019, while sharing an x-ray scan video after the alleged attack. According to her, surviving the attack was clearly God’s plan. It is not clear who would want to take the actress’s life and the reason behind it.

3. Stephanie Okereke

Nollywood famous actress Stephanie Okereke was involved in a fatal auto crash car accident while on her way for the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2005. She was nominated for Best Actress of the Year and on her way to Port Harcourt for the award she had an auto crash car accident. During an interview with the media Stephanie Okereke stated that it was by God’s intervention that she is still alive. Speaking with Daily Sun Newspaper in a private hospital in Port Harcourt, where she is recuperating, Stephanie Okereke narrated her close shave with death when the car she was travelling in had an accident and burst into flames. She believes God wanted to use the accident to draw her closer to Him.

4. Wizkid

There is no denying that Wizkid is one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars at the moment therefore it was a big scare when news broke of him crashing his newly acquired Porsche Panamera S car. According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by a burst tyre. Thankfully the multi award winning musician came out of the accident unhurt with his N15 million car taking most of the damages. In a display of wealth he replaced the car in a week, with a Porsche again.

5. P Square The defunct twins’ music star Peter and Paul Okoye, two halves of the dynamic P Square duo, in the early hours of Sunday morning in 2015 survived an auto crash on their way back from Ibadan, Oyo State in the south western part of Nigeria where they had gone for a show sponsored by GLO. The two talented musicians went to church after the survival to give their thanks giving and testimony to God. Unfortunately, there is nothing like P Square again as the two handsome twins have went solo in their music career with Peter taking up the stage name Mr. P and Paul taking up the stage name Rude Boy.

6. Jim Iyke

Popular Nollywood movie star Jim Iyke was involved in quite a number of car accidents and it’s quite unusual. He was in a car accident along with his close Nollywood friend, Emma Ehumadu which led to the two being hospitalized. The two Nollywood stars had been shooting a robbery scene at a movie location in Asaba, Delta Sate sometimes back in March 2014 when the accident occurred. He was also involved in a ghastly car crash in Ghana on his way to the location of a new movie and another one in Las Vegas, United States of America and survived all the accidents.

7. Uche Jombo

Nollywood multi talented actress Uche Jombo cheated death some years back which was on June 24, 2011 when her FJ Cruiser hit another car head-on along the Lekki/Chevron area of Lagos, Nigeria. The actress later took to social media platform Instagram and Twitter to thank God for saving her life, she tweeted: “Thank U lord 4 d gift of life! Only U lord did this! Thank U my rock!”. Indeed God is awesome as nothing happened to her, instead only her car got damaged.

8. Bovi

Popular Nigerian stand-up comedian, Bovi suffered an accident in May 2015 after a car rammed into him at an intersection. Thankfully, Bovi came out of the hospital with just some minor injuries to the left eye. With a heart filled with gratitude Bovi shared his testimony on his official Instagram page, telling his fans to join him in thanking God Almighty who has decided to save his life and rescue him from untimely death.

9. Ubi Franklin

Iyanya’s manager, Ubi Franklin was involved in a near fatal car crash in August 2014. According to him, he was heading back home from a night of partying with friends at different clubs in Victoria Island, Lagos when it happened and the next thing he remembered was being covered in airbags and coming out of the car unscathed after which a good Samaritan took him and his friends in the car with him to the hospital. He later went to his official Instagram page to share his testimony and gratitude to God for saving his life.

10. Nonso Diobi

Talented and multiple award winning Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi also survived a car accident. The handsome Nollywood actor was involved in a serious car crash that left his Pathfinder truck badly damaged. The incident happened on Wednesday April 14th, 2010 along Lekki/Epe Expressway in Lagos State, Nigeria. Nonso Diobi shared his testimony via his official Instagram page and urged his loving fans to thank God for his life.

11. Jide Kosoko

Nollywood veteran actor Jide Kosoko narrowly missed death in 2014 when he survived a ghastly car accident around Ikeja Shopping Mall. He was driving himself when his car lost control due to brake failure. The car was a write-off, but the leader of the Yoruba movie sector escaped death narrowly. He went to church the next day to share his testimony and thanks giving to God for saving his life.

12. Yinka Ayefele

Talented and multiple award winning gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, lost the use of his legs in a car accident and became saddled with the use of a wheelchair to aid his mobility. He was involved in a horror car accident that damages his leg but with the intervention of God he is still alive. 13. Kate Henshaw

Multiple award winning Nollywood actress and movie producer Kate Henshaw also survived car accident. Before her Lekki home was gutted by fire, Kate Henshaw stared in the face of death and left unharmed when she was almost crushed in her car by a BRT Bus D027 along Anthony in Lagos. She was on her way to the airport when it happened. To the glory of God she survived the accident and went to her official Instagram page to share her testimony.
