Actress Funke Akindele Reacts After Losing Lagos State Deputy Governor

Popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele, who contested as PDP deputy governorship aspirant in Lagos state has reacted to the recently concluded election. She reacted to the election on her social media handle. She wrote on Twitter saying; “I am glad that we could at least speak up. Thank you once again, Lagos, for showing your daughter support. As I consider my next move in life. I will continue prioritizing the good of the people and the integrity of my position as an advocate for the people. Eko oni baje!”

This came a few hours ago as opposed to the rumor of quitting politics by some fans in Nigeria. Funke Akindele with Adediran AbdulAzeez (Jandor) The PDP governorship candidate polled a total number of 62,449 votes, to come a distant third in the election. While she believes it is not over, Funke Akindele said; “I also want to encourage all who mean well for the nation and the state of Lagos not to give up. I understand that some of us are beginning to develop some sort of apathy towards the system, however, if we do not speak, we would never be heard”.

She further stated that she has no regret that she took the huge step of contesting for deputy governor in Lagos. Following the outcome of the election, the actress deleted all posts relating to politics and the PDP from her Instagram.

Checks showed that the posts visible on her page of 15.7 million followers were that of her movie promotion and other personal posts.
