Jephthah Bowoto popularly known as Akpororo is a famous Nigerian stand-up comedian, vocalist, model, actor, gospel singer, master of ceremony, television personality and a philanthropist. He was born on 3rd October 1989 in Warri, Delta State in the south southern part of Nigeria. He is currently 28 years old.
He has featured in several international comedy shows both home and abroad. He is a native of Ilaje, a small village in Ondo State in the western part of Nigeria, but was born and grew up in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria where he had his early education.
Akpororo completed both his primary and secondary school education in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria and obtained both his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.
His career started off as a local gospel musician until in 2008 when he went into the National Comedy Challenge by Opa Williams and went on to win the Calabar zone of the competition.In 2009, Akpororo moved to Lagos and contested twice in the AY Open Mic Challenge, coming second in his first try and winning the competition in his second try. After his victory in the competition, Akpororo began performing at AY Shows both home and abroad and started attracting unique fans for himself.
In 2013, Akpororo rose to fame following his performance at “Basketmouth Laff and Jam” comedy show and went on to perform in several comedy shows including AY Live and Night of a Thousand Laff.
On 12th August 2014, Akpororo staged his first major comedy show “Akpororo vs Akpororo” at the Shell Hall of Muson Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The comedy show was attended by many people including notable musical acts, comedians, Nollywood celebrities and top dignitaries from the entertainment industry.
In 2014, Akpororo delved into acting, starring in the films Headgone and The Antique. In 2015, the movies earned him three nominations at the 2015 Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards.
His style of comedy is basically the fusion of circular and church-related jokes. He also joke about madmen and uses the phrase madness as a niche in his comedy.
In an interview with the media, he revealed that he performs and cracks jokes about lunatics because he was once an attendant to mentally-ill people who came to the church he was attending for spiritual healing.
In June 2015, Akpororo signed a two years endorsement deal with telecommunication giants Airtel Nigeria worth millions of naira. In 2016, Akpororo was nominated for Best Comedy Act at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In 2014, Akpororo was nominated for Comedy Act of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2014, Akpororo was nominated for Best Comedian of the Year at the BEN Television Awards. In 2014, Akpororo won the Best Comedian of the Year at the Naija FM Comedy Awards.
On 14th November 2015, Akpororo got married to his long time girl friend Mary Josephine Ijeoma Abraham and the wedding took place in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria with top Nigerian celebrities in attendant. The marriage is currently blessed with a baby girl.
Akpororo is currently studying Sociology at Lagos State University (LASU) where he combines both his comedy career with his academic studies. Akpororo owns a Range Rover SUV worth over five Million naira. His journey to stardom according to him wasn’t an easy one. He currently has a mansion at Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria worth millions of naira.
Akpororo is currently one of the richest and most influential comedian in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $1.4 million.
