Argentina Beat Nigeria 2-1 in 2018 FIFA World Cup – Group D Final

The Super Eagles of Nigeria was brutally defeated by Argentina with 2 goals to 1 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup final group D knockout on Tuesday 26th June 2018. The first goal was scored in the 15 minutes of the first half by world football legend Lionel Messi. In the 56 minutes of the second half Nigeria Super Eagles defender Etebo caused a penalty after Argentina defender Mascherano brought him down in the box of Argentina goal post.

Nigeria Super Eagles earned a penalty shootout and Victor Moses made Nigeria happy once again by scoring the equalizing goal in the 56 minutes of the second half. The match became tougher and tougher as Argentina continue to make different substitutes in the second half of the game.

Few minutes to the end of the second half Argentina defender had a handball in the middle of Argentina goal post box and which was highlighted many times to confirm if it was truly a handball or not. At the end of the highlight the referee denied it was a handball and ordered the game to continue thereby rubbing Nigeria a penalty shootout.

In the 86 minutes of the second half Argentina defender Marcos Rojo scored an impressive goal which resulted to a late win for Argentina. The defeats of Nigeria by Argentina book a spot for Argentina in the Round of 16 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia while Nigeria has been sent out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Argentina retaliated in the humiliation melted on them by Croatia who trashed them 3-0 in their last game. However, the just concluded game between Nigeria and Argentina is indeed an interesting game.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be returning home soon as they have been knocked out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup by Argentina. At the end of the game Lionel Messi was made man of the match for his numerous contributions and impressive performance in the game.
