Arnold Schwarzenegger is a famous Austrian/American Hollywood actor, filmmaker, business expert, politician, investor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, author, human right activist, former professional bodybuilder and a powerlifter, who served two terms as the 38th Governor of California in the United States of America from 17th November 2003 to 3rd January 2011. He was born on 30th July 1947 in Thal, Styria, Austria to Aurelia Schwarzenegger and Gustav Schwarzenegger. He is currently 70 years old.

Arnold Schwarzenegger grew up in a Catholic family who attended Mass every Sunday. He had a good relationship with his mother and kept in touch with her until her death. While at school, Arnold Schwarzenegger was reportedly to be academically average, but stood out for his cheerful, good-humored, and exuberant character. He grew up in a poor family background and had to struggle to assist and support his family.

As a boy, Arnold Schwarzenegger played several sports and was heavily influenced by his father. He picked up his first barbell in 1960, when his soccer coach took his team to a local gym. At the age of 14 years old, Arnold Schwarzenegger chose bodybuilding over soccer as a career.

Arnold Schwarzenegger took to visiting a gym in Graz, where he frequently go to a local movie theaters to see bodybuilding idols such as Reg Park, Steve Reeves and Johnny Weissmuller on the big screen. In 1961, Arnold Schwarzenegger met former Mr. Austria, Kurt Marnul, who invited him to train at the gym in Graz. He was very dedicated as a youngster that he broke into the local gym on weekends, so that he could train even when it was closed. Arnold Schwarzenegger attended Santa Monica College and later attended University of Wisconsin in the United States of America.

On 20th May 1971, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s brother, Meinhard died in a car crash accident. He was driving drunk and died instantly after he was crashed by another big vehicle. Unfortunately, Arnold Schwarzenegger did not attend his funeral. Before his death, Meinhard was engaged to Erika Knapp, and they had a three-year-old son named Patrick. Arnold Schwarzenegger paid for Patrick’s education and helped him to move to the United States of America.

In an interview with Fortune Magazine in 2004, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed of how he suffered what would now be called child abuse at the hands of his father. According to him, his hair was pulled off by his father and he was hit with belts by his father.

In 1965, Arnold Schwarzenegger served in the Austrian Army to fulfill the one year of service required at the time of all 18-year-old Austrian males. During his service in the military, he won the Junior Mr. Europe contest. He struggled violently during basic training so he could take part in the competition, but unfortunately, he spent a week in military prison.

He later won another bodybuilding contest in Graz, at Steirerhof Hotel, where he was placed second. He was later voted best-built man of Europe, an award which made him famous. Staying in the East End of London in the United Kingdom helped Arnold Schwarzenegger improve his rudimentary grasp of the English language. And also living with the Bennetts also changed him as a person.

In 1966, while at Bennett’s home, Arnold Schwarzenegger had the opportunity to meet his childhood idol Reg Park, who later became his friend and mentor. The training that Arnold Schwarzenegger had from Reg Park paid off and, in 1967, Arnold Schwarzenegger won the title for the first time, becoming the youngest ever Mr. Universe at the age of 20 years old.

After winning the title for three times, Arnold Schwarzenegger then flew back to Munich, where he attended a business school and worked in a health club known as “Rolf Putziger’s gym” where he worked and trained from 1966 to 1968 and returned to London in 1968, where he won his next Mr. Universe title. He frequently told Roger C. Field, his English coach and friend in Munich at that time, that he is going to become the greatest actor one day.

Arnold Schwarzenegger began his weight training at the age of 15 years old. He later won the Mr. Universe title at the age of 20 years old and also went on to win the Mr. Olympia contest seven times which made him a public figure. He has written many books and articles on bodybuilding and sport. The Arnold Sports Festival which was named after Arnold Schwarzenegger has been considered to be one of the best professional bodybuilding competitions held in recent years.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is widely considered to be one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time as well as its most charismatic ambassador. After his success in bodybuilding, Arnold Schwarzenegger later joined Hollywood and gained worldwide fame as a Hollywood action-film legend. His breakthrough film was the “Sword and Sorcery” an epic movie produced in 1982 and which became a hit in the box-office.

In 1984, Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in another successful science-fiction thriller film titled “The Terminator” where he played the role of James Cameron and which received critical and commercial success. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appeared in several blockbuster films such as Commando, The Running Man, Predator, Twins, Total Recall, Kindergarten Cop and True Lies, amongst others.

As a Republican, Arnold Schwarzenegger was first elected on 7th October 2003 in a special recall election to replace the then-Governor Gray Davis. On 17th November 2003, he was sworn in to serve the remainder of Davis’ term. In 2006, he was then re-elected in the 2006 California gubernatorial election, to serve a full term as governor of California in the United States of America.

In 2011, he completed his second term as governor of California and returned back to Hollywood to continue his acting career. Arnold Schwarzenegger was nicknamed “The Austrian Oak” in his bodybuilding days. He was also nicknamed “Arnie” during his acting career and “The Governator” during his political career.

In 1986, Arnold Schwarzenegger got married to Maria Shriver, a niece to the 35th President of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy and daughter of the 1972 vice presidential candidate Sargent Shriver. Their marriage was blessed with five children including Patrick Schwarzenegger and Katherine Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, they separated in 2011 after Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to having fathered a child with another woman in 1997.

In 1992, Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife opened a restaurant in Santa Monica called “Schatzi on Main”. Schatzi literally means “little treasure,” colloquial for “honey” or “darling” in German language. In 1998, Arnold Schwarzenegger sold off his restaurant. Arnold Schwarzenegger currently resides in Los Angeles, California in the United States of America with his family.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently one of the richest actors in the United States of America. After separating from his wife, Maria Shriver in 2011, it has been estimated that his net worth has been approximately $400 million, and even as high as $800 million, based on tax returns he filed in 2006.

Over the years as an investor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has invested in his bodybuilding company and movie earnings in an array of stocks, bonds, privately controlled companies, and real estate holdings worldwide, making his net worth as an accurate estimation difficult to calculate, particularly in light of declining real estate values owing to economic recessions in the United States of America and Europe since the late 2000s.

In June 1997, Arnold Schwarzenegger spent over $38 million of his own money on a private Gulfstream jet which he acquired for himself. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appeared in a series of commercials for the Machine Zone game Mobile Strike as a military commander and spokesman.

At a 2015 security conference, Arnold Schwarzenegger called climate change the issue of our time. Unfortunately, in October 2016, Arnold Schwarzenegger stated that he would not vote for the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, with this being the first time he did not vote for the Republican candidate since becoming a United States citizen in 1983.

Arnold Schwarzenegger in the cause of his career has won several awards and honors. He has won Mr. Olympia seven-times. He has won Mr. Universe four times. In 1969, he became the World Amateur Bodybuilding Champion. In 1977, he became the Golden Globe Award winner. He has Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2012, he stars on the International Sports Hall of Fame. In 2015, he stars on the WWE Hall of Fame, amongst others.
