Atiku Abubakar the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is reportedly considering making a former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, his running mate in the forthcoming presidential election in 2023. Reports reveal that Emeka Ihedioha has been favored among others to be Atiku’s running mate in 2023.
Emeka Ihedioha, who was a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, was removed from office by Supreme Court judgments which favored Hope Uzodimma of the All progressive congress (APC), and has since remained the leader of the PDP in Imo state.
It was also gathered that Atiku began consultation with the leadership of the PDP shortly after he won the primary election of the party which was held in Abuja last Saturday. Apart from Emeka Ihedioha, some sources in the party revealed that Atiku might choose one of two South-South governors such as Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.
However, Atiku Abubakr in his previous outing as the candidate of the party at the 2019 presidential election picked former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi as his running mate.
