President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday mocked the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom for failing to win his election to go to the Senate, claiming that the people of the state rejected him because of his alleged bad performance in eight years. The President also accused the outgoing governor of frustrating all peaceful efforts made towards solving the security situation in the state, adding that instead of embracing the government efforts, the governor was busy mocking and criticizing the Federal Government.
President Buhari via a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said that the Benue people would heave a sigh of relief that the governor will leave office, while a more responsible governor will take over mantle of leadership.
He further stated that Governor Samuel Ortom accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being responsible of all the insecurity going on in Benue State, where Fulani bandits and killer herders are attacking and killing the people of Benue state on a daily basis. He further stated that governor Samuel Ortom ignored numerous intelligence reports passed onto him for action to end the insecurity in Benue state.
He said the Benue people rejected Governor Samuel Ortom in the senate because he could not protect them and even the person he endorsed for Governorship was rejected. He further concluded by saying that Governor Samuel Ortom is a failure.
