Christopher Maurice Brown popularly known by his stage name as Chris Brown is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, model, dancer, actor, investor, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. He was born on 5th May, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia in the United States of America to Joyce Hawkins and Clinton Brown. He is currently 28 years old. He started singing and dancing at a very tender age and was said to be influence by Michael Jackson.
Chris Brown attended Essex High School in Virginia, United States of America and passed out with distinction in 2005. He began to perform in his local church choir and in several local talent shows. He was mimicking Usher Raymond and Michael Jackson. His mother recognized his vocal talent and began to look for the opportunity of a record deal. He also went through personal issues. On 8th February, 2009 at around 12:30 A.M Chris Brown and his former girlfriend Rihanna had an argument. This argument escalated into physical violence, leaving Rihanna with visible facial injuries which required hospitalization.
In 2009, Chris Brown received significant media attention after pleading guilty to felony assault of his former girlfriend, Rihanna. Based on the charges leveled against him, he was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service.
In 2009, Chris Brown released his third debut studio album. The album received massive acceptance and sold million copies worldwide. In 2011, Chris Brown released his fourth debut studio album F.A.M.E. The album has singles like Yeah 3x, Look at Me Now and Beautiful People.
The Album F.A.M.E. earned Chris Brown his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Album of the year at the 54th Grammy Awards in United States of America. In 2012, Chris Brown released his fifth studio album “Fortune”. The album was really successful. In 2014, Chris Brown released his sixth studio album “X”. The album sold million copies worldwide.
On 18th December 2015, Chris Brown released his seventh studio album “Royalty”. The album was globally accepted and released trending hit singles. Apart from his work in the music industry, Chris Brown has pursued an acting career in both films and television series.
In 2007, Chris Brown made his first appearance in a film titled “Stomp The Yard” and also appeared as a guest actor in the television series “The O.C”. Other films Chris Brown has appeared in include This Christmas, Takers, Think Like a Man and Battle of the Year.
Throughout his career, Chris Brown has won several awards including fourteen BET Awards, five Billboard Music Awards and three MTV Awards. In 2007, Chris Brown founded the record label “Chris Brown Entertainment” (CBE) under Interscope Records. Chris Brown has also venture into entrepreneurship, real estate and investment. He owns fourteen Burger King Restaurants in Virginia, United States of America.
Chris Brown is currently one of the richest and most influential artiste in the United States of America with an estimated net worth of $85 million.
