Joseph Van Vickers is a Ghanaian Actor, Producer and a Model. His father died when he was six years old. He was born on 1st August 1977 in Ghana to a Liberian mother and a Dutch father. He is currently 39 years old. He has often stated in interviews that he considers himself a global citizen as he was raised all over the world by his mother.
Due to the early death of his father Van Vickers has stated that he is very close to his mother and considers her his hero.
Vickers attended Mfantsipim School along with his fellow actor Majid Michel. Mfantsipim is also the alma mater of former Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.
Vickers started out in the entertainment industry as a radio presenter at Groove 106.3 FM between 1999 to 2000.
He also worked as a radio presenter for Vibe 91.9fm between 2001 to 2004. His first movie was a blockbuster titled “Suncity”
He has also worked as a television personality for TV3 Ghana between 1997 to 1999 & Metro TV between 2000 to 2004.
He was cast in his first Nollywood film ‘Divine Love’ as a supporting character alongside Jackie Appiah & Majid Michel.
He is usually cast as the male romantic lead character alongside with actress Jackie Appiah & Nadia Buari.
He is often compared to fellow Ghanaian actor Mijid Michel and Nigerian actor Ramsey Nouah.
He has acted in several Nollywood movies alongside with Nollywood prominent actors such as Mercy Johnson.
He has featured in several Nollywood movies includes My Soul Mate, Heart of Fire, Popular King, Harvest of Love, etc.
He is one of the renowned African actors worldwide. He has directed & produced five films under his production since 2008.
In 2008 he was nominated for “Best Actor in a Leading Role” and “Best Upcoming Actor” at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
In 2009 he won the Ghana Movies Awards, ACRAG awards and the Nollywood Academy Films Critics’ Awards.
In 2011 he won the Pan African creative actor. In 2012 his movie ‘Joni Waka’ earned him best actor and director in Ghana.
In 2013, he won the Best International Actor award at the Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards which was held in Abuja, Nigeria.
Van Vickers is married to Adjoa Vickers & they have three children, two daughters and a son.
He is the CEO of Sky + Orange Productions, a film production house where students are trained in the field of acting.
He is currently one of the richest & most influential actor in Ghana with an estimated net worth of $1.5 million.
