Biography & Net Worth of Nigerian Artiste Don Jazzy

Michael Collins Ajereh popularly known by his stage name as Don Jazzy is a famous Nigerian singer, songwriter, recording artiste, stage performer, record producer, entrepreneur, investor and a philanthropist. He was born on 26th November 1982 in Umuahia, Abia State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is currently 35 years old. He grew up with his three siblings in Ajegunle in Lagos State, Nigeria. 

Don Jazzy is the immediate elder brother to Nigerian popular musician D’Prince. Don Jazzy started singing when he was 4 years old. At the age of 12 years old, Don Jazzy began to play the drums, bass guitar and traditional instruments. Don Jazzy completed his primary school education in Ajegunle, Lagos State, Nigeria and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.

After completing his primary school education, Don Jazzy proceeded to Federal Government College in Lagos, Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. After completing his secondary school education, Don Jazzy proceeded to Ambrose Ali University Ekpoma in Edo State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

In 2000, Don Jazzy visited London to play the drums for a local church. While in London he met with D Banj and both of them became good friends. In 2004, Don Jazzy returned to Nigeria and co-founded the record label Mo’ Hits Records alongside with his label mate and friend D Banj the Koko Master. On March 2012, Don Jazzy and D Banj abandoned their partnership of Mo’ Hits Records due to artistic differences.

After the break-up of Mo’ Hits Records and the departure of his friend and label mate D Banj, Don Jazzy set up Mavin Records on 8th May, 2012. Don Jazzy learnt music production techniques from Emeka Infiniti at O-Town record company and became a professional  record producer. In 2006, Don Jazzy produced his first debut studio albums “No Long Thing”, his second debut studio albums “Rundown/Funk You” and his third debut studio albums “Curriculum Vitae”.

In 2011, Don Jazzy was employed by an American hip hop star Kanye West as a producer at his studio “Very Good Beatz”. On 5th November 2013, Don Jazzy had conflict with his artiste, Wande Coal who left the label two days later. In September 2014, Don Jazzy produced and released a Nigerian social activist song with Reekado Banks and Dija titled “Arise.”

In early 2013, Don Jazzy signed three hot artistes to his records label. The three hot artistes were Reekado Banks, Dija and Koredo Bello. Don Jazzy currently has a multimillion endorsement deal with Samsung. In 2012, Don Jazzy acted in his first Nollywood movie.

In 2006, Don Jazzy won the Best Producer of the Year award at the Nigerian Music Video Awards. In 2007, Don Jazzy won the Best Record Producer at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards. In 2011, Don Jazzy won the Best Producer of the Year award at The Headies Awards. In 2014, Don Jazzy won the Best Collaboration at the MTV Africa Music Awards. In 2015, Don Jazzy won the Best Producer of the Year award at the City People Entertainment Awards.

Don Jazzy is currently the second richest and most influential artiste in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $35 million.
