Olamide Adedeji popularly known by his stage name as Olamide is a famous Nigerian hip hop indigenous rapper, singer, songwriter, recording artiste, stage performer, model and a philanthropist. He was born on 15th March 1989 in Bariga, Lagos State in the western part of Nigeria. He is currently 28 years old.
He is very handsome, creative and talented. He rap and sing mostly in Yoruba language and sometimes calls himself Olamide Baddo or Baddest Guy Ever Liveth. He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YBNL Nation Record Label.
Olamide completed both his primary and secondary school education in Bariga, Lagos State, Nigeria and obtained both his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.
After completing his primary and secondary school education, Olamide went ahead and studied at Tai Solarin University of Education in Lagos State, Nigeria.
In 2000, Olamide decided to pursue a career in music. When asked why music, he stated that he was gifted in it, so had to explore it. In 2010, Olamide performed at the Hip Hop World Awards. In 2011, he was signed to ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunes Record Label.
In 2011, Olamide released his first debut studio album “Rapsodi” under Coded Tunes Record Label which is managed by Toni Payne. The album was successful and song million copies worldwide. In 2012, Olamide left Coded Tunes Record Label and established his own record label “YBNL Nation”.
In November 2012, Olamide released his second debut studio album “YBNL” under his record label YBNL Nation. The album has sold millions of copy worldwide and the songs from the album have topped many charts in Nigeria and most especially on MTV music charts. When asked the full meaning of his record label “YBNL” Olamide simply said that YBNL means “Yahoo Boy No Laptop”.
Before stardorm, Olamide was born in a poor family and grew up in a remote location of Lagos called Bariga. He sees himself as a street boy and always reflects that in his music. He believes that no matter where you come from once you work really hard with determination you will become successful and excel above your own expectation.
On 17th July 2013, Olamide became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with “Ciroc” worth millions. On 24th October 2013, Olamide signed a multi-million endorsement deal with Guinness. Olamide currently has a child called “Batifeori Adedeji” with his babymama.
In 2013, Olamide won the Best Rap Act of the Year at the Headies Awards. In 2014, Olamide won the Best Street Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards. In November 2013, Olamide became an ambassador for Etisalat.
Olamide has collaborated with top artistes in Nigeria such as Phyno, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Davido, Dbanj, Don Jazzy, Flavour, Ibliss, Yemi Alade, Chidinma, Kecee and host of other top celebrities in Nigeria.
He has released hit singles like Ilefo Illuminati, First of All, Stupid Love, Voice of the Street, Dami Duro, etc. His songs are banging on different radio stations and clubs all over Nigeria. He is currently one of the most cherished celebrities by fans and also one of the most popular celebrities worldwide.
In May 2013, it was reported that Olamide signed a record deal contract with DB Records, but he took to his Twitter handle to debunk the reports. Olamide rap and sing mostly in Yoruba language and has been declared as Nigerian most popular indigenous rapper and singer.
Olamide in the cause of his music career has won several awards which include Best Rap Act of the Year at the Headies Awards and Best Street Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards.
Olamide has also won Ghana Music Awards, Nigeria Music Video Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards, Magazine Awards, African Muzik Awards, The Headies Awards, Nigeria Entertainment Awards, City People Entertainment Awards and Dynamix All Youth Awards. Olamide is currently one of Nigerian top celebrity that has received the highest number of awards all through his musical career.
Olamide is currently one of the richest and most influential artiste in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $12.5 million.
