Segun Arinze Aina popularly known as Black Arrow is a famous Nollywood actor, director, producer, singer, television personality and a philanthropist. He was born on 24th September 1965 in Onitsha, Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is currently 52 years old. He is very gifted, creative, skillful and talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles and can fit in any character given to him by movie directors and producers.
His father is from Yoruba tribe in Badagry, Lagos State in the south western part of Nigeria while his mother is from Igbo tribe in Onitsha, Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is originally from Badagry, a small town in Lagos State in the south western part of Nigeria.
Segun Arinze completed his primary school education in Onitsha, Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. After completing his primary school education, Segun Arinze attended Victory College of Commerce in Ilorin, Kwara State in the south western part of Nigeria, but completed his secondary school education in Taba Commercial College in Kaduna State in the northern part of Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.
After completing his secondary school education, Segun Arinze proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State in the south western part of Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts. He started acting right from his secondary school years in Ilorin, Kwara State in the south western part of Nigeria where he participated in several drama and stage play.
In the early 1990s, Segun Arinze joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and rose to fame after featuring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Black Arrow” a movie that brought him to limelight, gave him his nick name in Nollywood and earned him a nomination for Best New Actor at the African Movie Academy Awards and Most Promising Act to Watch at the Golden Icon Movie Academy Awards. Segun Arinze has also been nominated for Special Recognition Awards at the City Peoples Entertainment Awards.
Segun Arinze has acted in more than 250 Nollywood movies which include Silent Night, Women in Love, Anini, Darkest Night, Invasion 1897, Extra Time, Fragile Pain, Across the Niger, Church Business, To Love a Thief, 30 Days, Family on Fire, A Place in the Stars, etc. He acts mostly in action thriller movies and always play the role of a criminal, arm robber, kidnapper, villain, assassin and terrorist in Nollywood movies alongside with Saint Obi, Sam Dede, Hanks Anuku, Gentle Jack, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Stephanie Okereke, Ramsey Noah, Regina Askia, Jim Iyke and other top Nollywood celebrities.
Before he became a Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze had a thriving music career, with his 1992 debut studio album titled “Dreams”. In 2008, Segun Arinze got married to Nollywood actress Ann Njemanze and the marriage was blessed with a beautiful daughter named Renny. Two years after the marriage, Segun Arinze and his wife Ann Njemanze got divorced and went their separate ways. After the annulment of his marriage with Ann Njemanze, in 2010, Segun Arinze got married again to his beautiful wife, Julie Arinze and the couples are blessed with three beautiful kids. Segun Arinze is popularly known for playing bad guy roles in movies. He was the former national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Segun Arinze in the cause of his acting career has won several awards which include Best New Actor at the African Movie Academy Awards, Best Actor in a Leading Role at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Special Recognition Awards at the City Peoples Entertainment Awards, Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the African Movie Academy Awards, Most Promising Act to Watch at the Golden Icon Movie Academy Awards and Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
