Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic popularly known as Rita Dominic is a famous Nollywood actress, producer, model, television personality, investor and a philanthropist. She was born on 12th July, 1975 in Mbaise, Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. She is currently 42 years old. She is the youngest child in a family of four siblings.
Rita Dominic is a member of the Royal family of Waturuocha of Aboh Mbaise local government area of Imo State, Nigeria. Her late parents were medical practitioners. Her father was a medical doctor and her mother was a nursing officer. Rita Dominic completed her primary school education in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate.
After completing her primary school education, Rita Dominic proceeded to Federal Government College in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and obtains her West African Senior School Certificate. After completing her secondary school education, Rita Dominic proceeded to University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts in 1999.
She had interest in acting at a very tender age and started performing in stage drama when she was still a child, appearing in school plays, drama and children’s television shows in Imo State, Nigeria. In 1998, Rita Dominic joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and acted in her first movie “A Time to Kill” a movie that brought her to limelight. In 2004, Rita Dominic won an award for Most Outstanding Actress in Nigeria at the City People Entertainment Awards.
Rita Dominic has acted in more than 200 movies which include Children of Terror, Prisoner of Love, My Guy, Face of a Liar, Aba Riot. Etc. Rita Dominic is one of the highest paid actress in Nigeria. She is also a producer and has produced numerous films both in Nigeria and abroad. Rita Dominic is currently married with beautiful kids.
Rita Dominic has won several awards which include Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, Most Outstanding Actress in Nigeria at the City People Entertainment Awards and Most Prominent Actress in Nigeria at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2015, Rita Dominic won the Best Actress in Nigeria at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in the blockbuster movie “The Meeting” which she also co-produced.
