Nkem Owoh popularly known as Osuofia is a legendary Nollywood actor, producer, artiste and a comedian. He was born on 17th October, 1960 in Amagu Village, Udi Town, Enugu State, Nigeria. He is currently 56 years old. After his primary and secondary education in Nsukka, he headed to the University of Ilorin to study Electrical Engineering.
He later completed his studies at the Institute of Management Technolgy (IMT), Enugu where he studied Electrical Engineering.
During his university studies, Nkem Owoh began acting in various televisions drama and film productions.
He is currently married to Ngozi Nkem Owoh and they are blessed with many children.
In 2003 he starred in the blockbuster movie “Osuofia in London” the movie won him so many awards both home and abroad.
He is also known for the song “I Go Chop Your Dollar” about advance fee fraud which was featured in the film ‘The Master’
Later the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission banned the song.
In 2007, he was arrested in Amsterdam, Netherlands on suspicion of lottery fraud and immigration violations & later released.
In 2008 he won the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards.
In November 2009, Nkem Owoh was kidnapped in eastern part of Nigeria. His kidnappers demanded a #15 million ransom.
Nkem Owoh was later released after his family members allegedly paid a ransom fee of #1.4 million to the kidnappers.
Nkem Owoh has acted in more than 200 movies such as Things Fall Apart, Ukwa, Onye-Eze, Fake Doctor, Police Officer, etc. He is currently one of the richest & most influential actor in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $3.9 million.
