Ashley Chijioke Nwosu is a fallen hero and a legendary Nollywood actor, television personality, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. He was born on 21st November 1954 in Umuahia-Oboro, Abia State in the south eastern part of Nigeria and died on 21st April 2011 at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State in the western part of Nigeria at the age of 56 years old.

He is originally from Umugu-Oboro in Ikwano Local Government Area of Abia State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. His father’s name is late Pa Francis Ibeabudi Nwosu and his mother’s name is Mrs. Ezinne Victoria Nwosu. He was the 4th child in a family of 7 children.

Ashley Nwosu attended Umuigu Central Primary School in Umuahia-Oboro, Abia State, Nigeria and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. After completing his primary school education, Ashley Nwosu proceeded to Oboro Secondary School in Umuahia-Oboro, Abia State, Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.

After completing his primary and secondary school education, Ashley Nwosu proceeded to University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugu State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology. In 1985, Ashley Nwosu met and married his lovely wife, Grace Iberie Nwosu. The marriage is currently blessed with five lovely children comprising of four girls and one boy.

Ashley Nwosu started his acting career in 1988 with the NTA network in a drama series titled “Tele-movies” and after which he joined the Nigerian movie industry “Nollywood” in the early 1990s and has featured in several Nollywood movies.

Ashley Nwosu has acted in more than 200 Nollywood movies before his death which include Baby Guards, Stone Love, Hidden Secrets, Keeping Close, A Better Place, My American Nurse, Expensive Game, Passion of Minds, Aristo, Blind Love, etc. He always plays the role of a good father, a paramount ruler and a title chief in Nollywood movies.

Ashley Nwosu is also a movie producer. In 2010, he produced his first movie “Shield of Faith” which was premiered at the Silverbird Galleria in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria on 12th December 2010.

Ashley Nwosu in the cause of his acting career has won several awards which include Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria at the Golden Icon Movie Academy Awards and Best Actor of the Year at the Best of Nollywood Awards.

Unfortunately, on 21st April 2011 Ashley Nwosu died at the age of 56 years old at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State in the western part of Nigeria, leaving behind his lovely wife and five lovely children. The cause of his death was due to liver disease he has been battling for months. Before his death, he was one of the most gifted, most creative, most skillful and talented actor in Nigeria.

Before his death, he had earlier been in coma for several hours at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State, Nigeria, before he eventually died due to the liver disease he has been battling with for months.

Ashley Nwosu was one of the richest and most influential actor in Nigeria before his death with an estimated net worth of $450,000.
