Chief Pete Edochie is a legendary Nollywood actor, producer, TV personality, businessman and a philanthropist. He was born on 7th March, 1947 in Enugu city, Enugu State, Nigeria. He is currently 69 years old. He is an indigene of Anambra State, Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary Education in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
He is considered as Africa most talented actor. He is a devoted catholic whom people misunderstood due to his movie role.
In 1967 he got into radio broadcasting as a junior programme assistant after which he was elevated to the level of a Director.
In 1980 he became famous after starring in an NTA TV series “Things Fall Apart” in which he played the lead role of Okonkwo.
He won an International awards due to his role as Okonkwo in the TV series “Things Fall Apart” BBC reporters also interviewed him.
In 2005 the Actors Guild of Nigeria placed Pete Edochie on a one year suspension from filming due to his demand of huge fees.
In 2009 Pete Edochie was kidnapped by hoodlums & later released unharmed after some huge ransom was paid.
Pete Edochie is currently married with many children, but one of his sons “Yul Edochie” is a famous Nollywood actor.
Pete Edochie has acted in more than 200 movies which includes Heavy Battle, Test Your Heart, Greatest Harvest, Secret Pain, etc.
He has won several Grammy awards both home & abroad, such as, best actor in Africa, Nollywood legend & most gifted actor.
He is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian movie Industry ‘Nollywood’ He has retired from acting & devoted to church.
He is currently one of the richest & most influential actor in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $3.8 million.
