The Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, has called for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for peace to reign in the South East and Nigeria in general.
He also urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to find a lasting solution to series of agitations in different sections of the country to encourage unity and progress. Bishop Ezeofor made the call at Saint James Anglican Church, Nanka, in Orumba North Local Council, yesterday, at the second session of the sixth synod of the diocese, hosted by Nanka Anglican community.
The cleric maintained that the call has become necessary to ensure more peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, especially in the South East. He equally tasked the federal government to ensure equitable distribution of the nation’s resources among the six geopolitical zones.
He, however, called on those agitating for an independent State of Biafra, to follow the necessary due process instead of weeping up sentiments and going violently against the wish of the people.
