Breaking!! Nigeria Ambassador To United States Justice Nsofor Is Dead

Nigeria ambassador to the United States Justice Sylvanus Nsofor is dead. The 85 years old Nigerian Ambassador to the United States passed away on Thursday 10th October 2020 in a Maryland hospital in the United States of America. Though no official statement has been issued, but competent sources have confirmed his death.

The retired justice of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, Justice Sylvanus Nsofor assumed office as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States on November 13, 2017. Justice Nsofor was Nigeria’s last Ambassador to the United States even though his appointment was not renewed in July as the case was for other ambassadors.

Justice Nsofor succeeded Prof. Adebowale Adefuye, who died towards the end of his tenure as Nigeria’s ambassador to United States. Born on March 17, 1935 in Oguta, Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. Justice Nsofor graduated from London’s now-defunct Holborn College of Law in 1962. He also bagged an LL.M from the London School of Economics in 1964.

More than 1,500 Nigerians had signed a petition on the change.org website which prides itself as the world’s platform for change demanding the immediate removal of Justice Nsofor stating that the process that brought him to office as an ambassador lacked integrity.

According to a report on the website the recommendations of Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Security (DSS) against his appointment was discarded.
