Breaking!! Nollywood Actress Cynthia Okereke Is Dead

Popular Nollywood actress, Cynthia Okereke is dead. Recall that she was kidnapped last year alongside actor Clemson Cornel, while filming in Enugu. Mr. Emma Onyemeziem, Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, confirmed her death. According to him, the actress died on Wednesday morning 12th July 2023 from an undisclosed ailment. Although the cause of her death is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filling this report. Mr. Emma Onyemeziem said that Cynthia Okereke had been managing her health all this while.

Nollywood actor Joseph Okechukwu also confirmed the news in a post on his verified Twitter handle. He wrote: “Rest In Peace, Nwanyi oma. I am shattered beyond words. The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come to finish what we started only to hear you went to be with the Lord just last night, it is one of the toughest things I have ever had to deal with in recent times.

“I pray I am able to recover from this shock. Life is really just a mist. One minute you have it, the next you don’t. For more than 20 years that I have known you, you have been such an amazing, decent and lovely soul to be around.

“I never imagined you would exit so unceremoniously. Words fail me. Sleep on, Cynthia. May your gentle soul rest on till we meet again in glory.” Recall that last year, the actress was kidnapped in Enugu alongside her colleague actor Clemson Cornel. They were later released unhurt by their abductors days after they were declared missing.

Cynthia Nkiru Okereke is a famous Nollywood actress, television personality, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. She was born on 20^th April 1960 in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. She is currently 57 years old. She is very gifted, creative, skillful and talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles and can fit in any character given to her by movie directors and producers.

Cynthia Okereke completed both her primary and secondary school education in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria and obtained both her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate. After completing her education, Cynthia Okereke worked in several organization before settling for acting.

In 1998, Cynthia Okereke joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and acted in her first Nollywood movie “King Jaja of Opobo” a movie that gave her an advantage in Nollywood and attracted her to movie directors and producers in Nigeria.

She was influence by her friend Obiajulu Nworji, who encouraged her to become one of the casts of the movie “King Jaja of Opobo” which was shot in 1998. In 2003, Cynthia Okereke rose to fame after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Osuofia in London” alongside with Nkem Owoh.

The movie “Osuofia in London” has been regarded as the most expensive and most successful movie Nollywood has ever produced which featured both Nigerian and British actors. The movie was shot in London, United Kingdom and various locations in Nigeria. The movie earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Cynthia Okereke is one of the few Nollywood celebrities that have managed to be free from media scandal. She is currently married with beautiful grown-up children. Cynthia Okereke is currently one of the most gifted, most creative, most skillful and most talented actresses in Nigeria.

Cynthia Okereke has acted in more than 180 Nollywood movies which include King Jaja of Opobo, Osuofia in London, Second Chance, Coronation, Otollo, Sound of Love, Second Burial, Lion Finger, Hidden Tears, Mega Mama, Mr. Ibu’s Wedding Day, etc.

She always plays the role of a good mother, grandmother, royal queen and mother in-law in Nollywood movies. Cynthia Okereke is one of the most talented actresses in Nigeria and has the ability to interpret her roles very well. She has acted alongside with top Nollywood celebrities like Nkem Owoh, Chiwetalu Agu, John Okafor, Patience Ozokwor, Ebere Okaro, Chioma Chukwuka, Kenneth Okonkwo and hosts of other top Nollywood celebrities.

Cynthia Okereke in the cause of her acting career has been nominated and won several movie awards in Nigeria which include Most Promising Actress in Nigeria at the City People’s Entertainment Awards, Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. In 2013, Cynthia Okereke was honored as the “AGN Movie Ambassador” by Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Unfortunately, Cynthia Okereke died on Wednesday morning 12th July 2023 at the age of 63 years old from an undisclosed ailment. May her soul rest in peace.
