Bruce Lee Biography and Life History

Lee Jun-fan popularly known as Bruce Lee is a famous Hong Kong and American actor, filmmaker, martial artist, film director, film producer, martial arts instructor, investor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, television personality, philosopher and the founder of the Martial Art “Jeet Kune Do” which is one of the wushu or kungfu styles. 

He was born on 27th November 1940 in Chinese Hospital, San Francisco, California in the United States of America and died on 20th July 1973 in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong at the age of 32 years old. The cause of his death is due to muscle pull.

Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, California in the United States of America. He was a child actor in Hong Kong who later returned to the United States of America and taught Martial Arts. In 1966 to 1967, he starred in the popular television series “The Green Hornet” and became a major box office draw in The Chinese Connection and Fists of Fury.

Bruce Lee has been described as the best martial artist from Hong Kong. In 1964, he got married to Linda Lee Cadwell and the marriage was blessed with two grown up children namely Brandon Lee and Shannon Lee.

Bruce Lee rose to fame in 1966 after starring in the popular television series “The Green Hornet”. After which he starred in several movies and television series before his death in 1973. Some of the films he has acted include The Green Hornet, Batman, Longstreet, Ironside, Here Comes the Brides, Bruce Lee Lives, All Men Are Brothers, Blondie, amongst others.

Bruce Lee was the son of Cantonese opera star Lee Hoi-chuen.  He is widely considered as one of the most influential martial artists of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century by commentators, film critics, media organization and other martial artists all over the world. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films.

Bruce Lee was born in Chinatown, San Francisco, California in the United States of America to Hong Kong parents and was raised with his family in Kowloon, Hong Kong. He was introduced into the film industry by his father and has appeared in several films as a child actor.

Bruce Lee completed both his primary and secondary school education in Kowloon, Hong Kong. After completing his primary and secondary school education, he later moved to the United States of America at the age of 18 years old to complete his tertiary education. He completed his tertiary education at the University of Washington in Seattle in the United States of America. It was during the time of his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington in Seattle in the United States of America that he began teaching martial arts.

His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and also sparking a lot of interest in Chinese martial arts in the Western part of the world in the early 1970s. The direction and tone of his films dramatically changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in the United States of America, Hong Kong, China and the rest of the world.

Bruce Lee is popularly known for his roles in five feature-length films titled Lo Wei’s The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Golden Harvest’s Way of the Dragon and The Game of Death, which was directed and written by him.

Bruce Lee became an iconic figure and movie legend known throughout the whole world, particularly among the Chinese, based upon his portrayal of Chinese nationalism in his films. Bruce Lee was trained in the art of Wing Chun and later combined his other influences from various sources into the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy, which he dubbed “The Way of the Intercepting Fist”.

Bruce Lee holds a dual nationality in Hong Kong and the United States of America. Unfortunately, Bruce Lee died on 20th July 1973 in Kowloon Tong in Hong Kong at the age of 32 years old.
