Bukola Saraki Reveals Why He Stopped Tinubu From Becoming Buhari Running Mate In 2015

Former Senate President of Nigeria, Bukola Saraki has reacted to the claims of the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who said the former senate president antagonized his ambition of becoming President Muhmmadu Buhari’s running mate in 2015 for his selfish interest.

The ex-senate president who is now a full member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through his Media Office, Yusuph Olaniyonu, stated that he would always oppose any plan that is capable of causing a religious crisis in a multi-religious country like Nigeria, as president Muhammadu Buhari is a Muslim and don’t need another Muslim as a running mate.

He further stated the Ahmed Tinubu is a Muslim and so to balance the equation, he needed a Christian to emerge as a running mate to Buhari and that was how he rejected Ahmed Tinubu and requested for Yemi Osibanjo who is a Christain to emerge as Buhari running mate back then in 2015.

Bukola Saraki said when he and other members of the All Progressive Congress stood against having a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2014, their target wasn’t on any individual or group but was of national interest. The former presidential aspirant of PDP said he would always take the same stand today, tomorrow, and any other day. Recall that Bukola Saraki was a member of the All Progressive Congress when Buhari won the seat of president in 2015.
