Christine Marie Flores popularly known by her stage name as Christina Milian is a famous American singer, actress, model, songwriter, recording artiste and a philanthropist. Christina Milian was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in the United States of America. She is a Cuban America born to Don Flores and Carmen Milian and raised in Waldorf, Maryland in the United States of America. She later changed her name from Flores and adopted her mother’s maiden name “Milian” in the hopes of landing a wider range of acting roles.
Christina Milian is the oldest child in a family of three sisters, which include Danielle and Elizabeth. She was four years old when she showed an interest in the entertainment business, and when her family realized that she was a talented actress, they encouraged her to keep it up and this motivated her and she became determined to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
By the time she was 9 years old, Christina Milian had begun auditioning with local talent agencies and shot commercials for Wendy’s and Honeycomb, and played the lead role in the musical film “Annie”. During this time, she was a host for Disney Channel’s series “Movie Surfers” by the name of Tina. Rodney Jerkins heard about Christina Milian from a boy band he was working with and once he heard her sing, he quickly signed her and they began working together.
For a year and a half, Christina Milian went to the studio every day and worked with Rodney Jerkins, which is where she developed her vocal and singing talents. Christina Milian began writing songs at the age of 17 years old because she needed a demo to help her obtain a recording contract. According to Christina Milian, every time she recorded a song, the producer would refuse to give her the demo, or would write lyrics that she did not agree with. She felt that she had to write a song, record a demo, and send it out on her own until she met with music producer Rodney Jerkins.
At the age of 19 years old, Christina Milian signed a contract deal with Def Jam record label. In 2001, Christina Milian released her self-titled debut album which featured hit singles like “Am to PM” and “When You Look at Me” which charted within the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and both peaked in the top three on the UK Single Chart.
In 2004, Christina Milian released her second debut studio album “It’s About Time” which had hit single like “Dip It Low” and which reached number five on the U.S. Billboard chart. Her second hit single “Whatever U Want” was released as the album’s second most greatest single. Both singles charted within the Top 10 of the UK chart.
In 2006, Christina Milian released her third debut studio album “So Amazin”. Her third debut studio album produced the hit single “Say I” which peaked in the Top 30 of the US Billboard chart. A month after the release of the hit single “So Amazin” Christina Milian’s representatives confirmed that she had left Island Records due to creative differences. Christina Milian later signed a contract deal with Interscope Records in 2009.
In October 2008, she released her hit single “US Against the World”. In 2012, Christina Milian signed a record deal contract with Young Money Entertainment. Aside from music, Christina Milian is also an actress. Her first lead role as an actress was in the 2003 film “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and “Be Cool”. In 2006, she acted in the horror film “Pulse”. Christina Milian has also had minor roles in movies like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Bring It On, and Fight to the Finish.
In 2003, Christina Milian met Hollywood actor Nick Cannon on the set of their film “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and they began dating. After being together for two and a half years, Christina Milian ended her relationship with Nick Cannon in 2005 because he was cheating on her. Nick Cannon later revealed during an interview that he refused to stay faithful to Christina Milian because their relationship was becoming too much like a Christian romance.
On 4th September 2009, Christina Milian and R&B singer/songwriter The-Dream eloped to Las Vegas in the United States of America. On 26th February 2010, Christina Milian gave birth to their daughter name Violet. Christina Milian and The-Dream announced their separation on 12th July 2010.
From 2015 to 2016, Christina Milian acted in the movie “Grandfathered”. In 2018, she was cast in the movie “The Oath” where she played the role of Christine Parks. Christina Milian in the cause of her career as an actress and a musician has won several Grammy Awards and Oscar Awards.
