The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has vowed to conduct the Anambra governorship election despite the recent attacks on its facilities in the region. The Anambra governorship election is scheduled to hold on 6th November 2021, but the South East has been the centre of insecurity in the country with gunmen attacking police facilities, burning down INEC buildings and destroying electoral materials.
Despite this security challenges, the Commission said it is engaging with relevant stakeholders in the state to find a lasting solution to the violence that has crippled the state and also proceed with the election as schedule. This was disclosed by the National Commissioner of INEC, Adekunle Ogunmola after a strategic meeting in Lagos, on Monday.
