President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday appealed to Nigerians to endure the current hardship in the country. President Tinubu said he was not in a hurry to rebuild Nigeria, but Nigerians should expect positive changes as his government begin the implementation of his campaign promises. Tinubu disclosed this while addressing the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo in his Ake Palace in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The President, who was on a thank-you visit to Ogun State, had earlier visited the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona in the Ijebu-Ode area of the State. According to our reliable source, New Telegraph had earlier reported that Tinubu landed at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode at exactly 10.17 am.
In Tinubu’s entourage were his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication and Strategies, Dele Alake. Tinubu was received by Governor Abiodun, former Governor Olusegun Osoba and other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The President inspected the Guard of Honour and immediately left for the private residence of Oba Adetona and the duo went into a closed-door meeting. At Awujale’s palace, Tinubu and his entourage were joined by Nigeria’s billionaire and Chairman of Globacom, Mike Adenuga and former Governor Gbenga Daniel.
Addressing Alake, his chiefs and other guests, Tinubu said he is currently taking his time to build a good team, saying he was not in a hurry to fix the country. He urged Nigerians to keep a positive mind, assuring them that he was determined to help the country out of its current state.
According to his words: “What I ask for is prayers that will help the country and I am determined to help our country, to steer the ship of the nation, build a good team, be positive for this country and deliver on all the promises that I have made. The hope is recharged, the hope is here. That hope will never fade. That hope will recharge your life in a positive manner.
“I am here still making that pledge of the campaign promise that there is no difference between us and any members of the Nigerian family. I have seen that in France during the discussion and we are the children of the same parents living in the same house, we are only sleeping in different rooms, just recognize that.
“Let us be united, and not distracted, we will arrive at the destination, a positive destination for this country and it is all in our hands to make history and I promise you that. Nigeria will see positive changes as we move along, we are just going through these baby steps of pain.
“I am taking baby steps as the President, not matching in a hurry, being ready to listen, maintaining an open door policy, letting the freedom flow, and letting confidence return to Nigeria. This country is the only country that we have. I have been a refugee, I know what it is to be a refugee in another country and my green passport is what I still have now.
“We need your prayers, we need your support, we need your interventions to get our people to change their mind so that the economic prosperity of this country being opening up will affect all of us positively,” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated.
While appreciating his party members, Tinubu said, “At least we delivered, despite the hardship of no money, no fuel, I credit you for that, thank you. Initially, I just wanted to sneak in and sneak out, to greet Kabiyesi, but now I know exactly what it is to be a President. Having achieved the prayer point of “Emilokan” and then being here, I have redeemed a pledge that I will be back with victory and the crown,” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu concluded.
