He was born on 3rd September 1970 in Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America. He is currently 48 years. Eric Thomas was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Detroit, Michigan, both in the United States of America.

He was born to a single teenage mother and after various arguments with his parents and aunts, he dropped out of high school and lived homeless on the street of Detroit in the United States of America for two years. While he was homeless, Eric Thomas met a preacher who inspired him to go back to school and eventually changed his life. After graduating from high school, Eric Thomas took a job at an Olive Garden on the Westside of Detroit.

It was in this period that he met his wife, Dede Mosley, at the Detroit Center Seventh-day Adventist Church. After working for few years in Detroit, Eric Thomas moved to Huntsville in Alabama and attended Oakwood University. While still in the university, he got married to his wife Dede Mosley and the marriage is currently blessed with a child named Jalin Thomas.

Eric Thomas spent twelve years working towards an undergraduate degree at Oakwood University and graduated in 2001. While in Huntsville, Eric Thomas preached and set up a program to help underprivileged youth.

He also served as senior pastor at A Place of Change Ministries in Lansing, Michigan in the United States of America. In 2005, Eric Thomas obtained his master’s degree from Michigan State University in the United States of America and a PhD in Education Administration from Michigan State University in the United States of America in 2015.

After becoming known as a preacher and motivational speaker, Eric Thomas founded a company to offer education consulting, executive coaching and athletic development. Through his program, he has given motivational talks to collegiate and professional athletes.
