Frank Rajah Arase is a famous and multiple award winning Nollywood movie directors, filmmaker, producer and an entrepreneur. He was born in Benin City, Edo State in the south southern part of Nigeria, but grew up in Lagos State in the western part of Nigeria. He has been nominated for Best Director of the Year at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Frank Rajah Arase is originally from Edo State in the south southern part of Nigeria, but grew up in Lagos State in the western part of Nigeria where he completed both his primary and secondary school education and obtained both his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School certificate.
After completing his secondary school education in Lagos, Frank Rajah Arase started his film production career. Frank Rajah Arase ventured into the show business at a very young age. He started out as a theatre practitioner in Nigeria. He was a dancer for National Theatre troupe in Lagos and also acted in stage plays. He met Nollywood actor and director Paul Obazele, who groomed him in the film industry.
He joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) as an actor, featuring in films such as “Scores to Settle” and “After School Hours”. His love for working behind the scenes drew him into producing and directing his own movies.
After directing a few movies in Nigeria, Frank Rajah Arase agreed to direct a film for Ghana’s production company known as “Venus Films”, after turning down previous attempts made by the Company. He directed the film titled “Official Prostitute” in Ghana and continued to make films in Nigeria after that.
Eventually, Abdul Salam Mumuni of Venus Films proposed a two-year contract to Frank Rajah Arase, which involves introducing Ghanaian actors into the mainstream of Nollywood film industry and making them have a star power comparable to Nigerian actors and Nollywood celebrities.
Ghanaian actors that became famous through this collaboration include: Jackie Appiah, Van Vickers, Majid Michel, Nadia Buari, John Dumelo, Kalsum Sinare and Kofi Adjorlolo amongst others.
The contract was extended for another two years which led to the introduction of more actors like Yvonne Nelson, Juliet Ibrahim, Frank Artus, Prince David Osei, Martha Ankomah and other top Ghanaian celebrities that are making waves in the movie industry.
Films produced during this period include: Mummy’s Daughter, Beyonce, Heart of Men, The Game, Who Loves Me?, Princess Tyra, The King is Mine, Agony of Christ, Crime to Christ and many other top Ghanaian movies.
The films are co-produced with Arase’s production company “Raj and Heroes Films”. Frank Rajah Arase is indeed a blessing to the Ghana movie industry. Through his effort and collaboration with Venus Films Production Company brought about the growth of Ghana movie industry otherwise known as Ghallywood.
After his contract with Venus Film expired, he continued with his own productions through his outfit, which has since released notable films such as “Somewhere in Africa” and “Iyore” amongst others.
Frank Rajah Arase is the second child of the family. He is currently married with beautiful kids and his family is currently based in Lagos, Nigeria. Due to the nature of his movie business, Frank Rajah Arase is currently based in Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria.
Frank Rajah Arase has directed more than 200 Nollywood and Ghallywood movies which include The Price, Groom’s Bride, Somewhere in Africa, 4 Play, Princess Tyra, Temptation, Crime to Christ, Return of Beyonce, Heart of Men, Delilah, Iyore, etc. He is currently one of the most gifted, most skillful, most creative and most talented movie director and producer in Nigeria and Ghana.
Frank Rajah Arase in the cause of his career has won several awards which include Best Director of the Year at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards, Best Producer at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Most Creative Director at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and Most Outstanding Director at the Ghana Movie Awards.
Frank Rajah Arase is currently one of the richest and most influential movie director in Nigeria and Ghana with an estimated net worth of $2 million.
