Gov Soludo Demolishes Building And Shrine Used By Kidnappers In Oba

Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo has destroyed a building in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state on Friday. While demolishing the building, he stated that the building was used by kidnappers to hold their victims. Last week, security agents attacked the building, based on information supplied to them by an apprehended gang member and freed three kidnap victims, including a Catholic priest, as well as reclaiming the priest’s SUV.

According to report from Daily Post, the building which was a broken-down three-room structure was razed down on Friday after a combined security squad stormed the place for additional operations. The operation resulted in the capture of charms and other artifacts, as well as the demolition of a shrine used by the criminals for fortification. Two other suspects were apprehended during the operation, one of them is accused of working with the crooks as a native doctor.

Meanwhile, Gov. Soludo, who spoke to journalists later at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, said the destruction was in keeping with the state government’s policy of confiscating or demolishing any property used to propagate criminality. Soludo praised the State Joint Security Task Force’s efforts, noting that the demolition exercise will serve as deterrence to other offenders.

He also praised the assistance of some persons in the state who have been sharing information, stressing that every stranger is suspicious until his or her means of making money is proved to be real and genuine. He also urged people to be security vigilant at all times, encouraging them to always report odd and criminal activity in their neighborhoods to security services.
