Gov Umahi Threatens To Sack Absentee Civil Servants For Obeying IPOB Sit-At-Home Order

The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has said any civil servant that failed to report to work today Monday, 30th August 2021 will not be paid and will be sacked without warning. Recall that many residents have been observing the sit-at-home order called by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) every Monday since 9th August 2021.

Despite its suspension by the IPOB, residents in all the south east still observed the sit-at-home order out of fear. But Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, who frowned at the development, said aside ensuring that defaulting civil servants didn’t receive their salary, he would equally ensure that they lose their job permanently.

Governor David Umahi stated this during an All Progressives Congress stakeholders meeting in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, on Sunday. According to the words of Governor David Umahi; “Any shop that is not opened on Monday must be taken over by the government and any civil servant that refused to return to work will lose his or her job without warning. Our South-East is about to be destroyed, but we have to fight to stop it.

“A lot of federal agencies have placed Ebonyi State on red alert. I give you example, the Aviation Ministry; it took my going to Abuja before they were able to come to give certain approvals for our airport.

“The other Monday, not this immediate past one, many civil servants did not go to work. We decided not to pay them, but the spirit of God prevailed and we paid them. But anybody who fails to go to work this Monday will definitely cease to be a civil servant. The security agencies must take note of this,” Governor David Umahi concluded.
