Harrison Tare Okiri popularly known by his stage name as Harrysong is a famous Nigerian singer, songwriter, stage performer, recording artist and an instrumentalist who rose to fame after releasing his tribute song to late Nelson Mandela, a song that won him the award for Most Downloaded Caller Tune at The Headies Award in 2013.

Harrysong was born to an Ijaw parents in Warri, Delta State in the south southern part of Nigeria as the only child of the family. He completed both his primary and secondary school education in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria and obtained both his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.

After the death of his mother, a strained relationship between him and his step-mother led to his drop-out from school and due to this fact, he couldn’t complete his tertiary education. His involvement with music grew after moving over to Port Harcourt in River State, also in the south southern part of Nigeria, where he spent some of his early life.

At the age of 11 years old, Harrysong started his music career as a young congarist in his local church in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria while his mother served as the music director before he went on to learn contemporary gospel music.

In 2007, Harrysong moved to Lagos city in the south western part of Nigeria as the lead singer of a live band who perform in night clubs and was signed to Question Mark Entertainment, until he met famous Nigerian musician Kcee in Lagos, which later led to his contract and signing into the Five Star Music, a music label own by Kcee immediate younger brother and Nigerian young billionaire E-money.

Harrysong rose to fame after releasing his hit single “I’m In Love” with the music video of the song “I’m In Love” topping music video charts at the MTV music chart and also including Trace TV. He went on to release his debut studio album “Testify” through Question Mark Entertainment in 2012.

In 2014, Harrysong was nominated in the Best Pop/R&B Artist of the Year category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards after the release of his top and hit single “Beta Pikin” which topped in several charts and received massive acceptance from global audience.

Harrysong is currently one of the most handsome, most gifted, most skillful, most creative and most talented artistes in Nigeria. He is also popularly known as Mr. Songz. He has being described as one of the best R&B, Afropop, African Hip Hop, Highlife and Dancehall musician in Nigeria by several media organization.

He started his music career professionally in 2008 and since then he has released several hit singles which include I’m in Love, I Want You, Obu Ego (Hustle), Taiye & Kehinde, I’m in Love Remix (featuring Olamide), When She Loves, Better Pikin, Kolombo, Ofeshe, Reggae Blues (featuring Olamide, Iyanya, Kcee and Orezi), Baba for the girls (featuring Kcee), Comsa, Arabanko (featuring Kcee ad Skibii), amongst others. In 2012, he released his first debut studio album “Testify”.

Harrysong in the cause of his career as a musician has won several awards. In 2013, he won Best Pop Extra Video and Most Downloaded Caller Tune, both at the Nigeria Music Video Awards and The Headies Awards. In 2015, he won Best Pop/R&B Artist of the Year, Best Contemporary Afro Video and Best Pop Extra Video, both at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and Nigeria Music Video Awards. In 2015, he also won the Creative Person of the Year at the Sun Awards. In 2016, he won Best Collabo of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Harrysong is currently one of the richest and most influential artist in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $1.6 million.
