Acne is most common in teenagers and adults. Acne occurs when the pores of your skin becomes blocked with oil, bacteria or accumulation of dead skin cells. It can also be caused by certain factors such as skin inflammation, diets, excessive oil production, clogged pores, bacterial infection, and health problems, etc.
1. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera can be hydrating for the skin; it helps to moisturize the skin. Aloe vera protects the layer of your skin and help with healing process. This gel is a gentle cleanser, it is rich in antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that can treat acne, prevent the skin from bacteria, reduce inflammation, redness, blemishes and the size of pores while flushing out dirt and excess oil, boosting skin cell production.
2. Honey
Honey has antibacterial and calming properties that help to soothe irritated skin and acne blemishes. It draws out excess water from the skin and reduce inflammation, it eliminates dead skin cells and help fade acne marks, reduces swelling and redness that comes with acne and treats breakouts due to its antifungal properties. Honey has many healing properties and can inhibit the growth of acne, promote healing of burns, wounds and skin infections.
3. Aspirin
Aspirin has anti-inflammatory agents that help to soothe skin problem, swelling, redness, relieves itchiness and pain. It has exfoliating compounds that can remove oil and dead skin cells. It is an acne fighter and can unclog and dry out pores. Topical application of aspirin reduces inflamed pimple and it’s a great acne treatment. But avoid these treatments, if you are pregnant or a breast feeding mother.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains lactic acid, acetic and citric acid, all of which can kill acne. It is a natural cleanser that can cleanse the skin, remove oil and dirt, tighten the skin to help protect it from bacteria and impurities, serves as spot treatment, lighten blemishes and scars, protect the skin from environmental pollution and prevent pimples and acne from forming while getting rid of the existing ones by drying it out.
5. Witch Hazel
Witch hazel is an ideal treatment for acne. It has astringent that can dry out acne, shrink pores and get rid of blackheads and whiteheads. It also has antioxidant agents that can help to treat sunburns, broken skin, minor skin burns, provides relief for irritated and sensitive skin, and neutralize free radicals that may cause bacteria build-up, wards off viral infections and protecting your skin against damage.
6. Clean Diet
The food you eat can also contribute to your health. Some certain kinds of food may trigger acne, breakouts, pimples and so many other skin reactions. To get rid of acne, try to avoid sugar, saturated fats and other dairy products, it causes the body to release hormone called insulin which can produce more oil to your oil glands putting you at risk of acne. Go for foods rich in complex carbohydrates, vitamins A and E, omega 3 fatty acids, fruits and vegetables.
7. Cucumber
Cucumber has anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties that can hydrate, soothe, calm and reduce redness, swelling, pain and irritation. It contains caffeic acid that rejuvenates and nourishes your skin, fights breakouts without drying your skin and alleviates sunburn. Its astringent agents help to lighten acne marks and spots, open clogged pores and remove bacteria from the pores. Cucumber contains vitamins, minerals and amino acids that help keep the skin firm and healthy.
