Bad breath can be caused by bacteria in your mouth, dry mouth, Ph imbalance in the stomach, certain medications and foods, some medical conditions like sinus infection. Bad breath can be embarrassing and can be a condition that is difficult to treat with some products.
It can leave you with low confidence but you can solve the problem of bad breath with some of your kitchen ingredients listed below;
1. Lemon and water
Lemon has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help fight odour. The citric acid in lemon stimulates your mouth to produce more saliva and help fight odour causing bacteria, leaving your mouth free of the bad smell.
To deal with these problems, get a glass of water mixed with 5 tablespoons of lemon juice. Use this solution to gargle, use once or twice till the odour is gone.
2. Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil helps fight against microbes in your mouth. It contains natural antiseptic and anti-fungal properties that kill bacterial and fungal caused by particles of food left in your mouth. You can add this oil to your toothpaste and brush your teeth.
3. Baking soda
Also known as sodium bicarbonate can kill bacteria in your mouth. It is considered as alkaline in nature that neutralizes the high acidic levels in your mouth that causes bad breath. To make a baking soda mouthwash, add 2 teaspoons of baking soda to 1 cup of warm water. You can also use toothpastes containing high concentrations of baking soda.
4. Green tea
Green tea contains polyphenol, a property that prevent foul odour caused by bacterial growth. It fights off germs and rinse offs the bacteria from your mouth. Green tea lowers acidity of saliva, dental plaque and prevents tooth decay. Steep a green tea bag with 1 cup of hot water and drink once daily.
5. Apple cider vinegar
It is high in malic and acetic acid which can create an unfriendly environment for bacteria. It kills the bacteria that causes gum infection and balances the PH levels in your mouth. It is rich in minerals that support the health of mouth and teeth. Mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of water and drink after meals. You can also mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of warm water and gargle it in your mouth and then, spit it out.
Apples increase the production of saliva which reduces bad breath. They are rich in fiber and anti-bacterial properties which help to clean food from teeth and get rid of oral bacteria. Apples eliminate the allyl sulphide, responsible for the smell after eating food.
7. Salt water
This is a simple remedy for bad breath. It prevents the buildup of infectious bacteria in the mouth and balances the PH level which prevents the growth of unwanted bacteria in the mouth, eliminates bad breath, bleeding gums and mouth ulcer. Add half a teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water, stir till it dissolves. Sip the salt and gargle.
8. Hydrogen peroxide
This is an oxidizing agent which can kill bacteria in the mouth and help clear infections, treat gum disease, ease sore throat and whitens the teeth. Mix little quantity of hydrogen peroxide in one cup of water, use this solution to gargle and rinse your mouth. Use few times a week.
