How To Get Rid Of Eczema At Home

Eczema can be an embarrassing and chronic skin infection. It is an overactive immune response to irritants coming in contact with the skin. Ezcema can appear on the face and any parts of the body and can be easily identified. Here are some remedies to get rid of eczema.

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has antibacterial, wound-healing, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that help to clean skin and prevent skin infection. It is a natural moisturizer that can hydrate, soothe the itching, provide relief by cooling down hot skin and burning sensation of eczema.  Aloe vera has polysaccharides which stimulate skin growth and healing.  It can also be used to treat other skin infections such as Psoriasis, burns, redness and itchiness’, etc. Wash the skin with mild soap and water, then apply the gel on the affected area .Do these twice a day.

2. Turmeric

Turmeric contains antioxidant properties and anti-inflammatory properties which can lower inflammation, prevent the growth of skin bacteria and fungi in people with eczema, protect your body against damage caused by free radicals. The curcumin in turmeric helps in wound healing by speeding up the skin ability to form new healthy tissue and also, boost collagen production. Its inflammatory properties produce leukotrienes which help to remove toxins and other skin infections from the body.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is rich in antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties that soothe your skin, ease irritation, reduce inflammation and pain, hydrate skin and reduce bacteria that eliminate the risk of infection caused by dry, itchy and scaly skin. It is rich in vitamin E and K.  It contains lauric acid that helps to fight viral infections, bacteria and fungi. Coconut oil has the ability to penetrate the skin quickly and boost hydration while protecting the skin.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar balances skin acidic level and fight bacteria. The skin is protected by an acidic barrier, people with eczema has less acidic skin, the high acidic nature in vinegar balances the skin acidity level and fight bacteria and other skin infections. The potassium and mineral in apple cider vinegar discourages allergic reaction caused by eczema and it helps flush out toxins that can aggravate flare-ups.  Dilute 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and apply on the affected area.

5. Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which reduce inflammation. It is packed with antioxidants and vitamins; it has linoleic acid which penetrates the top layer of the skin and help repair delicate barrier. It provides superficial hydration and full of vitamin E, it prevents oxidation of the skin and prevents sun damage.  The properties in olive oil help to remove bacteria from the skin.  Warm up some olive oil and apply in the affected area

6. Use Mild Soaps, Detergents and Cleansers

Washing with certain soaps, detergents and cleansers can cause eczema due to its alkaline. They disrupt the acidity of the skin and leave the skin to be prone to damage or any skin infection. The lathering agents in these products can dry out the skin, also, the fragrance and chemicals in them can cause skin irritation. Go for products that are gentle, fragrance-free and has moisturizing agents.

7. Honey

Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which can benefit your skin in so many ways. It helps the body to fight infections, heal wounds and other skin ailments while moisturizing the skin and speed up the healing process. Honey contains amino acids, vitamins and minerals and some other beneficial substances which can treat skin conditions.  Go for manuka honey which has been treated to ensure it is free from contaminants.
