Uneven skin tone is a common condition where some parts of your skin become darker than the rest. This happens due to excessive melanin production in a particular area. Some of the major causes of uneven skin tone are wrong skin care products, sun exposure, aging, hormonal imbalance and dryness.
Uneven skin tone can be treated with some of your kitchen ingredients listed below;
1. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera has a cooling effect which helps regenerate new cells and rebuilds damage tissue. It is effective in treating skin ailment without irritating the skin. It restores the original color of your skin, lightens any dark spots and moisturizes the skin. Scoop out aloe vera gel and apply on your skin. Massage until the gel have been absorbed, leave for 15 minutes and wash it off.
2. Green Tea
Green Tea is rich in antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties which reduce redness and irritation of the skin and make the skin looks more even. It helps to get rid of free radicals that attack your skin, protect and soothe your complexion. Green tea has cleansing effect which is visible on the skin when used. There are many ways to use green tea to get its benefits. You can consume it regularly or apply cooled tea bags to your skin and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off.
3. Water
Water is very important to your skin. It helps to eliminate toxins in the body and hydrate your body from the inside out. Water improves your complexion, clear acne and breakouts, reduces itchiness as a result of dry skin, reduces pores and promotes faster healing of sunburn. Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to improve your skin tone.
4. Honey
Honey has strong antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties which helps to get rid of acne, eczema, psoriasis, irritations, pimples, dull and dry skin, help maintain skin PH, brightens, moisturize skin and heal wounds by speeding up your skin cells healing process. Apply raw honey on your skin everyday and see the tremendous changes.
5. Sugar and Lemon
Lemon has a natural lightening property which lightens pigmentation, dark spots, discoloration, tightens pores and even out skin tone while sugar removes dead skin cells, improves skin texture and clean pores. Mix equal amounts of sugar and lemon juice, make sure your face is clean and apply this mixture on a circular motion for 5 minutes before you rinse.
6. Sunscreen
Sun is one of the main causes of uneven skin tone, use your sunscreen daily when going out to help prevent further ultraviolet radiation damage, fight aging, redness and peeling from sunburn. Without the use of sunscreen, you increase your risk of skin cancer and worsen any existing hyperpigmentation. Use a product with at least SPF 15.
7. Tomato
Tomatoes are rich in carotenoids, lutein and lycopene which protect your skin against damage from the sun, helps to reduce tanning and brighten skin. They help to maintain healthy skin. It tightens and cleanses the pores. Tomatoes have strong lightening properties which help to treat dark spots, uneven skin tone and pigmentation. The acidic nature balances PH level of skin and removes excess oil on your face. Apply tomato pulp to your face and let it dry, wash it off with cold water.
8. Use mild skin care products
With the right topical products and treatments, uneven skin tone can be a thing of the past. Avoid harsh skin care products, they may cause negative effects on your skin, it makes your skin burn, causes breakouts, redness and skin discoloration. Examples of harsh skin care products are alcohol-based products, perfumes and dyes.
