However, it is possible to start a business with very little funding, but to do so, the sweat equity will be tremendous. This means that entrepreneurs need to establish personal network, they need to connect with their customers, most especially loyal customers who will patronize their businesses in the long term.

When you are starting a new business, one of the first things you need to do is to contact various people in your network to tell them about what you are doing and see if you could get your first clients. You need to build a strong client or customer base in the beginning and your business will blossom from there and become successful.

*The second step on how to start and grow a business is to be scrappy. Starting a new business requires entrepreneurs to be unbelievably scrappy. It is believed that new business owners don’t always have the money, capital or resources needed to perform certain tasks in their business such as hiring of consultants, hiring of freelancers or paying of employees, which means they have to take matters into their own hands.

It is also advisable that you attend seminars and webinars hosted by these business leaders and learn something new from them. Most of these business leaders have articles and books which they have written and it is advisable that you search for them and read them. Only those people who have tried a business idea and have become successful in it are in the position to tell people about starting and running a business successfully. Seek out entrepreneurs in similar sectors as yours, speak to them and get firsthand information from them and also learn from their experiences.

You need to find seasoned entrepreneurs who are willing to be open and honest about their experiences. The key to getting these kinds of entrepreneurs is to approach them as an admirer who has something to learn from them and not as a competitor who wants to take something from them and use it against them.

*The fourth step on how to start and grow a business is to differentiate the offering. Boasting similar offering in a business can be difficult, which is why entrepreneurs needs to strive to differentiate themselves and their products or services from the competition. Sometimes you need to asked questions like; how can entrepreneurs attract various shareholders to a business with no reputation or track record? To answer that question, I will say, absolutely no. Without a good reputation and track record, you won’t be able to attract stakeholders to your business as an entrepreneur.

To build a track record as an entrepreneur, you need to write out what makes your business different from others within the same industry. As an entrepreneur you need to focus on the value your company will bring and why consumers, potential clients and investors should take a chance on your business over other businesses that may be more established than yours.

*The fifth and final step on how to start and grow a business is to be creative and competitive with pricing. One of the most important ways to differentiate a new business from similar businesses is with pricing. For new entrepreneurs and business owners who are still trying to establish themselves and their businesses within the industry, offering good performance and quality-based pricing can be a huge incentive for clients or customers. You need to set cheap price for your business just to attract new customers and when your customers see the value of your products they will continue patronizing you.

Once you discover that your customers have seen great value in your product, then you can scale up a little bit and increase your price and those customers will still adapt to the new price and still patronize your business. This is because they have found real value in your product and cannot ignore it no matter the price.
