Water increases your metabolism and helps the body system function well. It reduces puffiness around the eye area, help with kidney and liver function and other skin conditions like eczema. When you drink adequate amount of water, it hydrates and replenishes your skin tissues, maintains your optimal body temperature and give you fresh and soft skin. Water is very beneficial to skin because it balances PH level, promotes faster healing and gives you healthy skin.

2. Sleep

Your skin goes through much of its restoration while you sleep, if you don’t sleep well your skin reduces the amount of time it has to repair, causing anxiety and stress. Sleep helps our body to heal and regenerate cells, reduces skin discoloration and thinning skin, fight wrinkles, promote weight gain, swollen eyes, dark circles and skin cancer. Get 7 – 8 hours of sleep at night to make a noticeable difference on your looks.

3. Manage stress

When we are stressed, our body releases hormone called cortisol. Cortisol causes skin dryness and makes our body looks dull. Stress encourages overproduction of oil on our face which can lead to acne, rashes, redness and inflammation. Stress negatively affect your immune system and promote hair loss, promote chronic headache and frequent sickness. Everybody feels stressed from time to time but when it becomes chronic, it can lead to serious health issues.

4. Exercise

Exercise is important for the body, it nourishes skin cell, helps our skin to repair itself by carrying oxygen and nutrients to our cells.  It reduces stress and cortisol levels, improves circulation and boost immune system. Exercise tones your muscle making your skin healthier. It also makes you produce sweat which is great for keeping your skin clear. Your pores flush out toxins when you sweat but always remember to wash your face or take a bath after sweating or exercising to avoid those toxins sitting on your cause.

5. Wash your makeup brushes

There is need to clean your makeup brushes weekly because your brushes accumulate dead skin cells, dust, dirt and bacteria. If the brushes are not cleaned, it can lead to acne and clogged pores when applied on face. A dirty makeup brush can irritate your skin, make your makeup look cakey, makes you likely to catch infection and breaks out your skin. You should develop a regular brush cleaning routine to avoid hygiene issues.

6. Cut out sugar

Too much sugar may cause a surge in insulin which may cause your skin to lose its elasticity, vulnerable to sun damage, produce acnes and wrinkles. Excess sugar aggravates skin conditions and disrupts your sleep. When you stop eating sugar, your hormones function better, you become more mentally sharp. The lesser the sugar, the clearer your complexion.  When you eat healthy, your skin works at its peak.

7. Sunscreen

Sunscreen is very important in your skincare routine. Sunscreen protects you against UVA and UVB.  UVA creates fine lines and wrinkles. UVB increases your risk of sunburn and skin cancer. It’s best to limit your sun exposure or use sunscreen when going out. Use of sunscreen helps to even your complexion. Sun damage is one of the reasons for uneven skin tone. Sunscreen protects the essential proteins in the skin and can make your skin looking healthy.

8. Avoid smoking

Smoking decreases blood flow and makes your skin pale, it damages your skin, eyes, hair and makes you look older. Smoking is one of the dangerous activities that can affect your internal and external health. It increases your risk of lung cancer and heart diseases. Smoking introduces free damaging radicals to your skin. Reverse the effects of smoking by stop smoking. These can make a whole lot of changes in your skin.
