Following the re-arrest and detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the DSS facility in Abuja, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe finally breaks his silence. In an interview with TVC News, the Senate Minority leader said that he is ready to stand again as surety for the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
According to the lawmaker, he previously stood surety for Nnamdi Kanu because it was one of the conditions the court imposed. Speaking on the allegation that Nnamdi Kanu jumped bail during his previous trial, Senator Abaribe stated that there is a difference between escaping for your life and jumping bail.
Going further, Senator Abaribe said that after Nigerian Army invaded Nnamdi Kanu’s father’s residence, he had to approach the court to depose the last people seen with the IPOB leader.
In the interview, when Senator Abaribe was asked if he could stand surety again for Nnamdi Kanu if he is offered bail, the Abia state lawmaker said that the IPOB leader is their son and they can’t run away from their responsibility.
According to him, if the circumstances are the same, and the judge says they need a Senator from the South East, he wouldn’t hesitate to come to the rescue of Nnamdi Kanu.
