I Did Not Kill Mohbad And I Am Not A Drug Addict – Naira Marley Reveals

Popular Nigerian musician Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has reiterated his claim that he was not involved in the killing of his former colleague and signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. In a statement he released on his verified Instagram page, Naira Marley expressed deep sorrow over the death of his former coworker. He clarified that Mohbad left the ‘Marlian Music’ company in September 2022, emphasizing that their differences were not severe enough for either of them to wish harm upon the other.

According to the words of Naira Marley; “While we had our disagreements when working together, they were not as significant as people may believe. We did not harbor ill intentions towards each other,” he stated. He also mentioned that they had attempted to resolve their disputes through legal channels before Mohbad’s tragic death. Naira Marley explained that his initial silence about Mohbad’s death was due to shock and a desire not to obstruct the ongoing investigation by security forces.

He further disclosed that he left Nigeria on August 31, 2023 and had not returned since, but he is now preparing to respond to a police invitation. According to his words; “I am not involved in illegal activities or cults,” Naira Marley emphasized. He clarified that his company, Marlian Music, is not involved in drug dealing or secret societies. According to his words; “Marlian Music is a company of close friends who conduct their activities in a lawful manner. Our aim is to nurture talented individuals and provide support.”

On September 12, 2023, 27-year-old Mohbad passed away, prompting an investigation by DSS officials. The controversy surrounding his death has garnered significant attention in Nigeria and neighboring countries, especially on social media. The exhumation of the deceased’s body has contributed to the ongoing investigation, with results pending.
