I Will Never Quit Acting For Any Man – Actress Destiny Etiko Declared

Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has stated that she loves acting so much that she can never quit the profession because of any man or marriage. The actress made the above statement known to the public in a recent interview she had. According to Destiny Etiko, any man who loves her and would love to build a family with her would have to understand that acting is her first love.

Destiny Etiko stated that even though she would have to reduce the amount of intimate roles she plays in movies, she would never quit the profession. She also stated that it would be quite unfair of any man to ask her to quit her job, even though she would never ask any man that wants to marry her to quit her profession. She further revealed that she studied marketing in school, but her love for acting has caused her drastic switch.

During her chat with Potpourri, she said:

“Before I started acting, I’ve always said I will never work for anyone, but rather be independent doing my own thing. I read marketing in school. Acting is something I love and passionate about. So, whoever I am falling in love with or having a relationship with should understand that I love acting and that I have been doing it before we met

“I will have to look for an understanding man. Probably, there has to be an understanding that there are some roles I shouldn’t do, like smooching, kissing, caressing and all that. I would agree to that because I love him and want to keep him.

He shouldn’t stop me from doing what makes me happy. Most people who are married and still into acting are not doing it for the money, but because of the love and passion they have for it. So, the man has to understand that I can’t ask him to quit his job.”

The 31-year-old Destiny Etiko made her Nollywood debut in the 2014 Ernest Obi-produced movie, Idemili. She has since gone on to become a household name in the Nigeria movie industry.

She holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in Anambra State. The actress who possesses what many refer to as a coke-bottle shape has many times been accused of getting acting roles solely on her body shape. In a recent interview, the actress debunked such speculations while noting that one needs to have content to thrive in the industry. According to her, she’s also a child of grace.

Speaking in the interview, Destiny Etiko said,

“Having a nice shape was not what made me popular, whether you are sexy or not you must have content. You can’t be a star by being beautiful or fair or voluptuous. Sexiness and beauty can only make people like you but it won’t keep you there for long.

“My ‘sexiness’ didn’t give me any special privilege, although it’s an added advantage for me. Another thing that helped me is that I carry grace. When you have the grace to make it, no one can stop you,” she stated.
