Jeffrey Bruce Atkins popularly known by his stage name as Ja Rule is a famous American hip hop rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, record executive, actor, businessman, entrepreneur, investor and a television personality. He was born on 29th February 1976 in Queens, New York in the United States of America to Debra and William Atkins. He is currently 42 years old. He is currently one of the most influential hip hop rapper in the United States of America.
Ja Rule father, William Atkins left the family when he was very young. His father raised him as an only child. He has a younger sister by the name Kristen who died in the womb from breathing complications when Ja Rule was just 5 years old. His mother, Debra Atkins, was a healthcare worker and due to the amount of time she spent working, Ja Rule was raised by his grandparents who worshipped at Jehovah Witness church. Later on, his mother left the Jehovah’s Witness religion when he was just 12 years old.
Ja Rule began his music career in 1993 with his hip hop group known as Cash Money Click. He told MTV reporter Curtis Waller that his stage name “Ja Rule” came from a friend who addressed him by that name. In 1995, Ja Rule made his first appearance on Mic Geronimo’s “Time to Build” alongside with Jay-Z and DMX, who were also in their early stages of their music careers.

In 1998, Ja Rule signed a record contract deal with Murder Incorporation Records, owned by Irv Gotti and which is an imprint label under Def Jam Records. He is currently one of the most gifted, most creative, most skilful and most talented rapper in the United States of America.
In 1999, Ja Rule rose to fame after releasing his hit single “Holla Holla”. From 1999 to 2005, Ja Rule had several hits singles that made the top 20 of the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart. Some of his greatest hit single include “Between Me and You” which he featured Christina Milian and “I am Real” and “Ain’t It Funny” which he featured Jennifer Lopez and which topped the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart. His other greatest hit singles include “Always on Time” and “Mesmerize” which he featured Ashanti and “Wonderful” which he featured R. Kelly also received nominations for a Grammy Award.
During the early 2000s, Ja Rule was signed to Murder Incorporation Records, which was headed by Irv Gotti. Ja Rule hit singles and albums have received commercial success and global recognition and acceptance. Ja Rule in the cause of his career as a hip hop rapper has earned four Grammy awards and has also earned six top-ten albums which has topped on the United States Billboard 200 chart.

Aside from rapping, Ja Rule has established a career for himself as a Hollywood actor. His first film was a buddy movie titled “Turn It Up” which he acted alongside with Pras. He also appeared in a minor role in the movie “The Fast and the Furious”. Ja Rule has appeared in several Hollywood movies which include “Back in the Day” which he acted alongside with Ving Rhames and Pam Grier.
Ja Rule has also acted in the movie “Half Past Death” where he played the role of Steven Seagal. Ja Rule has also starred in the movies “The Cookout” where he acted alongside with Queen Latifah. He has also acted in the Hollywood movie “Assault on Precinct 13”. In 2013, Ja Rule starred in the movie “I am in Love with a Church Girl”. On February 2012, Ja Rule earned his GED while still in prison. In April 2001, Ja Rule got married to Aisha Murray. The marriage is currently blessed with three lovely children namely Brittany, Jeffrey Jr. and Jordan.

In 2001, he won the award for Best Single of the Year at the Source Hip-Hop Music Awards, Best Hip-Hop Video at the MTV Video Music Awards, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist at the American Music Awards and Best Rap Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
In 2002, he won the award for World’s Best-Selling Rap Artist at the World Music Awards, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards and Male Artist of the Year at the Teen Choice Awards. In 2003, he was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the Grammy Awards. In 2004, he won Phat Tape Song of the Year at the Source Awards. In 2009, he was nominated for Song of the Year at the MTV Music Video Awards.
