Shawn Corey Carter popularly known as Jay Z is an American hip hop rapper and businessman. He is one of the best selling musicians of all time, having sold more than 100 million records and also have received 21 Grammy Awards for his music. He was born on 4^th December 1969 in Brooklyn, New York in the United States of America. He is currently 47 years old.

His father’s name is Adnis Reeves Carter while his mother’s name is Gloria Carter. After his father abandoned the family at a tender age, Jay Z and his three siblings were raised by their mother, Gloria Carter. However, after abandoning the family for 20 years, Adniz Reeves (Jay Z father) later met with Jay Z before dying and apologize to him in early 2003

In his lyrics in 1982 at the age of 12 years old, Jay Z claimed he shot his elder brother in the shoulder for stealing his jewelry. Jay Z attended Whitney High school in Brooklyn for his primary education, after which he attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School for his secondary education alongside with hip hop rapper Notorious B.I.G and Busta Ryhmes.

Due to his stubbornness and constant fight in school with fellow classmates, his mother changed him to another school, which was Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey, United States of America. In Trenton Central High School, Jay Z sold crack cocaine and was shot at three times by American police, because of this catastrophe; Jay Z quit school and couldn’t graduate from Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey, United States of America.

After dropping out from high school, in 1986 Jay Z started his musical career as a hip hop rapper. He began freestyling and writing lyrics at a young age. In 1987 Jay Z started recording his lyrics in Jaz-O’s recording studio where he recorded his hit song “The Originators”

In 1994, Jay Z rose to fame after releasing his hit single “Show and Prove” and started appearing on stage in different events and clubs in the early 1990s. In 1995, Jay Z collaborated with DMX and Ja Rule to release the song “Da Graveyard” and “Time to Build” after that, Jay Z released his first official single and called it “In My Lifetime” after which he released his first music video “I Can’t Get with That”.

In 1995, Jay Z co-founded the music label “Roc-A-Fella” and after which he established his own record label “Def Jam” in 1997 and “Roc Nation” in 2008. In 1996 Jay Z released his first studio album “Reasonable Doubt” in 2001 he released his second studio album “The Blueprint” in 2003 he released his third studio album “The Black Album”

In 2001, Rolling Stone ranked three of his studio album “Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album” among The 500 Greatest Album of All Time. In 2006 MTV ranked him the Greatest MC of all time.

In 2008, Jay Z got married to American famous singer Beyonce Knowles and the couple is blessed with three children. In 2017, Forbes magazine listed him as one of the most powerful people in the world.

As an artist, Jay Z holds the record for most number one albums by a solo artist on the US Billboard 200. In 2009, he was ranked the tenth-most successful artist of the year by Billboard and the fifth top solo male rapper after Eminem and 50 Cent.

Jay Z owns the New York 40/40 Club sport bar and also the co-creator of the clothing line Rocawear. He was the former president of Def Jam Recording, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records label and the founder of the entertainment company Roc Nation.

Jay Z is currently the second richest and most influential artist in the United States of America with an estimated net worth of $810 million. When you join Jay Z wealth and Beyonce wealth together as a couple, they have an estimated net worth of to $1.16 billion.
