Jerry Amilo Biography and Net Worth

Jerry Amilo is a famous Nollywood actor, director, producer, musician and a writer. He was born on 21^st July, 1970 in Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is currently 47 years old. He is the last born in the family. He was formerly the manager of Christy Essien before moving to Nollywood. He is originally from Enugu-Ukwu in Anambra State, Nigeria.

After his primary and secondary education, Jerry Amilo went to University of Nigeria Nsukka and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After his tertiary education, Jerry Amilo joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) in 1993 and played the role of Anini in the movie titled “Bruno and the Law” the movie gave him a major break and made him a household name in the early stage of Nollywood. The movie was about a criminal who terrorized the old Bendel State in Nigeria which is currently known as Edo State.

After that movie, Jerry Amilo survived a fatal accident which almost took his life in his early stage in Nollywood. He was among the first people that started Nollywood. While traveling to Lagos from Enugu for Reels Award he had a fatal accident that kept him in the hospital and off the screen for two years.

According to him, he was traveling to Lagos from Enugu with his lawyer for Reels Award, unfortunately his car front tire got damaged and his car somersaulted many times. His lawyer died instantly but he survived the fatal accident. According to him he was in coma for three days but people thought he was dead and rushed him alongside with his lawyer to the mortuary. It was three days later that it was confirmed that he was still alive by professional doctors, but his lawyer is already dead.

He stayed in the hospital for two years until he fully regained and his wounds were healed before he came back to Nollywood in early 2000 and did many movies. In 2001, Jerry Amilo rose to fame after acting in the blockbuster movie “Desperadoes”

Jerry Amilo has acted in more than 100 Nollywood movies which include Desperadoes, Mafians, King of the Town, Across the Border, Across the Bridge, Boys from Malaysia, Across the Desert, Across the Niger, etc.

Jerry Amilo has won so many African Movie Academy Awards such as Best Actor in Nigeria and Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria. He has also been declared as a Nollywood legend for his contribution in the growth of Nollywood.

Jerry Amilo is currently one of the richest and most influential actor in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $1.2 million.
