Katsina state government has begun the recruitment of 5,000 primary school teachers. No fewer than 5,000 Katsina residents are set to be engaged by the state government. The residents are to be recruited as teachers in primary schools all over the state. The initiative is in line with the state government’s policy on education.
According to the state government, the recruitment will be based on merit, devoid of sentiment including political affiliation. The chairman of the recruitment committee, Mustapha Inuwa, who spoke while monitoring the screening exercise in the state recently, stated that every applicant for the job would be treated equally.
Mustapha Inuwa, who is also the secretary to the state government said; “The Katsina State Power (S-Power) committee has began screening over 5000 candidates to be enrolled as primary school teachers. The exercise is being conducted in 12 centres established by the main committee of the S-Power programme. We assure you that all applicants would be treated equally irrespective of any affiliation. Let us also emphasize here that the S-Power programme would only recruit on merit. The screening exercise is meant to get those who qualify to teach in primary schools.
Recently, the state government commenced the screening of 1,356 unemployed youths to be engaged as teachers under the S-Power’ programme. The screening is currently going on across the three senatorial districts of the state, with the government stressing that it is laying more emphasis on those with B.Ed. certificate, B.Sc. certificate, NCE certificate, H.N.D certificate. and N.D certificate.
