Kidnapped Corps Member Regains Freedom After The Payment Of N2m

A female corps member, named Faith Onoriode, who was kidnapped by bandits along the Abuja-Kaduna road with other commuters on March 21, 2022 while on her way to Jigawa state orientation camp, has been released by her abductors after her family paid the sum of two million naira.

Her brother, Mr Festus Onoriode, who spoke to newsmen, said she was released on Sunday, May 29, 2022 and she is currently undergoing medical attention. He explained that Faith was released after the family was able to give her abductors a motorbike, five Tecno phones, 100,000 worth of airtime (MTN and Airtel), and a cash sum of two million naira.

He added that they had to travel from Kaduna to Lagos state to get the specified motorcycle and mobile phones the kidnappers requested for because it was not available in Kaduna.

Mr Festus who thanked God that Faith was not sexually assaulted further added that while delivering the ransom, the bandits instructed them to use the service of escorts in order to easily maneuver the military checkpoints without raising brows or suspicion.
