Joseph Chidi Okechukwu popularly known as King Joe Okechukwu is a famous Nollywood actor, model, writer, motivational speaker, filmmaker and a television personality. He is popularly known for acting in romantic and tragic movies and sometimes as a pastor, royal prince and palace guard in several Nollywood movies alongside with Ini Edo, Tonto Dikeh, Desmond Elliot, Nonso Diobi, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade, Stephanie Okereke, Jim Iyke, Ramsey Noah and a host of other top Nollywood celebrities.
He was born in 1975 in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is currently 42 years old. He is very handsome, gifted, skillful, creative and talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles. He knows how to interpret his roles very well and can fit in any character given to him by movie directors and producers in Nigeria.
King Joe Okechukwu is originally from Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria, where he completed both his primary and secondary school education and obtained both his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.
After completing his primary and secondary school education in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria, King Joe Okechukwu proceeded to University of Ghana in Accra and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Leadership.
King Joe Okechukwu started acting at a very tender age. As a child, he used to entertain his family and friends with his superlative acting skills. His family always expected him to get into the show business and luckily for him, he got his family blessing and support to join the entertainment industry. In 1985, he was showcased in a school play that marked the beginning of his involvement in the entertainment industry. Before venturing into acting fulltime, King Joe Okechukwu worked as a marketer to make ends meet.
In 1997, King Joe Okechukwu joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and acted in his first movie “Rituals” in which he played the role of a cult leader. In 1999, King Joe Okechukwu rose to fame after acting in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Mark of the Beast” where he played the role of a pastor. According to him, it was Nollywood actor Bob Manuel Udokwu that introduced him into the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood).
King Joe Okechukwu has acted in more than 150 Nollywood movies which include Rituals, Mark of the Beast, Echoes from a Distance, I Swear, Naomi, Government House, Patience my First Lady, Deceit of the Gods, Alice My First Lady, etc. Apart from acting, he is also a movie producer and a director. He has produced and directed more than five movies. King Joe Okechukwu has dated Nollywood famous actress Genevieve Nnaji for many years before breaking up with her.

Apart from acting, King Joe Okechukwu is also a writer and a motivational speaker. King Joe Okechukwu in the cause of his career as an actor has been nominated for several awards and has won few awards which include Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, Most Promising Actor in Nigeria at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards. Unfortunately, he is no longer acting in Nollywood movies and has taken time off the big screen to face other businesses and parts of life.
