The Lagos State Police Command, on Tuesday night, announced that it had taken into custody controversial singer Azeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley, in connection with the controversial death of his former record label signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad. The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.”

Earlier in a tweet on Tuesday night, Naira Marley announced his arrival in Lagos to assist in the ongoing probe into Mohbad’s death, while noting that he would be meeting with the police.

The police had earlier invited Naira Marley and controversial music promoter, Sam Larry for questioning over Mohbad’s demise. The police, last week, also confirmed that pathologists had concluded the autopsy conducted on Mohbad, while the police await the result.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, the police spokesman said, “Autopsy has been concluded, we are now waiting for results.” This development followed the exhumation of Mohbad’s body by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials. Police had also arrested the nurse who reportedly injected the deceased singer prior to his demise on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

However, a man known as VeryDarkMan has claim that they is no evidence against Naira Marley to prove he was the one that killed Mohbad spark reactions on social media. In a reaction to Naira Marley’s arrest, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has shared his take in a trending video. According to VeryDarkMan, there is no evidence online about the Marlian label boss physically touching Mohbad.

He said that the evidence against Naira Marley was a viral video where Mohbad said his former label boss should be held accountable if anything happened to him. VeryDarkMan in the video, added that eyewitnesses like Bella Shmurda, Lil Smart, and DJ Splash are the only ones who can help get justice for the Mohbad. VeryDarkMan claimed there could be others involved in Mohbad’s death, while Nigerians are focusing on Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a stern warning to bloggers, celebrities, and other individuals, cautioning them not to impede the investigation into the death of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known by his stage name as Mohbad. The Police gave the warning on Friday in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi via his Twitter handle.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, encouraged celebrities and bloggers not to exploit the death of the late singer Mohbad to gain attention or gather followers. He also cautioned that individuals found commenting on the case might be summoned by the police to provide testimony in the ongoing investigation.

According to his words; “I have warned the so-called bloggers and celebs to allow us to do our work. They should not use Mohbad’s death to cruise or mobilize followers. They need to wait for the outcome of the investigation.

“Anyone who makes comments (affirmatively) on the issue might be invited by the police or any security agency to corroborate or testify in the case. You should better be careful and allow the law to take its course. The law is wide and complex and could, at the same time, be flexible. Be warned,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports that the body of the late singer has been returned to the grave after the conduct of an autopsy. The Command Public Relations Officer told newsmen that the remains of Mohbad have been deposited at the mortuary.
